If you are going to do movies, you'll want a dualcore at least and as much RAM as possible.
Quad core even better. Important to still pay attention to the speed of the prosessor. A dual core running at 1 gHz is not going to impress you much after having the P4 3gHz... but a dual core in the 2+ - 4 gHz range will make you notice.
I really haven't seen a difference between intel performance compared to comparable AMD for many many years.
