Hello, forum friends

After a little blank, this is my second post of this year.
This song is written in 80’s Pop-Techno style.
When I was young, I heard Serge Gainsbourg's song "Je T'aime...Moi Non Plus" and it shocked me.
It's a bit of a stimulating song, and I thought I'd like to write a song like that someday.
And I wrote the song at last about 20 yewars ago.
This time, for the first time in a long time, I tried to create it using only MIDI.
If I don't use MIDI sometimes, I will maybe forget how to use MIDI, so I make it to prevent that.
Any comments encouraged.
Always welcome.

Best regards.

Shigeki Adachi

Title: 愛しあう時 (Translation: When We Love Each Other)

Summary of lyrics:

I love how you love me
I love how you kiss me

Your fingertips are groping my soft breasts
Giving myself up to my passions I feel your touches

Oh I love you
I want to be loved, be held in your arms
Staying naked
I want to drift in the sea of love
Forgetting the time forever

Je t'aime, je t'aime
Much more stronger
Je t'aime, je t'aime
Plese continue to hug me

Je sens bien, je sens bien
Don't stop, don’t stop
Je sens bien, je sens bien
Your movement

We tangle our fingertips in an untidy bed
I put my lips to your hot chest

The sea of affection is overflowing
I want to continue being embraced by you

Oh I love you
Please whisper me in a gentle voice
Closing my eyes
Feeling your touches I want to be floated
Forever in the sea of time

Je t'aime, je t'aime
I love you I love you
Je t'aime, je t'aime
Than any other man

Je sens bien, je sens bien
Only you only you
Je sens bien, je sens bien
I just want to continue to feel you

Hi, Shigeki.

Well, unlike "Je T'aime...Moi Non Plus", I doubt anyone's going to jail over your song. wink

Yoko did an excellent job singing this, and your arrangement sounds great - especially the strings.

My only nit is the rhythm guitar. It sounds convincing and fits well into the mix, but there was something about it that kept drawing my attention to it. I suspect it was that the chords were voiced a bit lower than they'd normally be. That's only a tiny detail, though.

Really nicely done! laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hi Shigeki Adachi,

I like your song, even though it's quite different from Gainsbourg's song.
Nice vocals by Yoko, and the song is well arranged and mixed, and I enjoyed listening to it.

Your description (80s pop techno...) is misleading, this is not techno at all.
Even though it's not sung in French, I would describe the genre as "Modern Chanson".

Your songs are always lush and beautiful, Shigeki.

Yoko sounds great and we love the way she transitions from a “soft” to a very “passionate” vocal following the lyric lines.

The fretless bass is smooth and the strings are exquisite and the mix is top notch!

Lovely indeed,

J&B

Massive midi - well done.
I did note a few sibilant spots in the vocal that jumped at me...no one else has mentioned them so it may, yet again, just be me.
Lovely vocal & vocal melody too.

Cheers

Writing cool music is your thing, Shigeki; for you it's like breathing. And for you MIDI is like riding a bike; it becomes you. You know I always key in on your string arrangements and I am so happy there. Yoko is always such a treat to listen to when she sings. [That's a sentence I thought I'd never write since first hearing The Double Fantasy album. smile ] She has such an effortless and engaging style. I am always grateful for your translations, yet I believe we can guess what she is saying because she fills each note with emotion.

Enjoy whatever happens!

The melody and the rhythm section are slightly opposed (I don't know if that is the right word), but that's what makes the song so interesting to listen to. Beautiful melody and lovely singing. Besides the singing, the accompaniment section really grabs my attention.

Shigeki Adachi,
You recreated the 80s vibe very well. Excellent production! Yoko's vocals are beautiful. Very nice outro. Mixed well. Enjoyable listen!
Thank you for sharing.
Misha.

P.S. I don't know how open you are to suggestions, but I thought vocals might benefit from gentle de-essing.

Shigeki,

I know every time I listen to one of your songs, it's going to have a wonderful sound with a professional arrangement and production! Thia has that 70's pop/disco sound that was so popular back in the day! I would say your midi skills are sharpened up and at a high level! Your vocalist, Yoko, did a really nice job with this on! It all sounds great!

Thanks, TB

David (Cuny),

Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment.
I am really glad you like this tune, Yoko's vocal and my strings.
I am very grateful to you for always analyzing my songs in detail.
I understand your point out about the elec. guitar.
After all, it is very difficult to drive guitar with MIDI.
I am always very encouraged by your kind words.

Best regards.

B.D.Thomas,

Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment.
I am really glad you like this tune, Yoko's vocal and my arrangement.
Thank you for your advice about the genre of the song.
This time, I followed BIAB's style and decided on a genre.
It's true that it doesn't use synth drums, synth bass, etc., so it can't be called techno.
Perhaps if the drums and bass are replaced with synths and it could be something like that.
I am always very encouraged by your kind words.

Best regards.
