The Piano Roll Editor window opens on whatever track is in focus on the Audio Mixer. When there is no track in focus on the Audio Mixer the default is the Piano Roll Editor window opens with the Melody track in focus with the Audio Mixer also placing the focus on the Melody track. You can change the focus of the Piano Roll Editor window either by using the editor's drop down menu or by clicking on a track in the Audio Mixer.
I'm using version 2023 build 1010 but it has worked this way ever since I've used Band-in-a-Box. The key is what track is n focus when you open the Piano Roll Editor window.
Jim, The track isn't the issue. It's focusing on a specific channel within the track. I have been on the Melody track, but can't get it to focus on channel 2 within the Melody track, and stay there.
The Band-in-a-Box Melody track default midi channel setting is 4. The default can be changed by using Ctrl+E to open Preferences and then selecting the "Channels" button to open the MIDI Settings window.
Or right click on the Melody track label at the radio button or in the Audio Mixer to open a sub menu. Navigate to "Track Settings" > "MIDI Channel" to open the MIDI Channel window.
The top of the MIDI Channel window has two settings, "Do not re-route (multi-channel)" & "Re-Route MIDI events to this channel:" with channel 4 checked.
