A lot would depend on your setup.
Are you using a software synth, or is the MIDI going out to a hardware synth?
RB does send the MIDI CC change data for volume when you move those sliders, so I'm suggesting the issue is farther down the chain, or in your routing setup.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
