Classic Spirit Level on this one. What a wonderful write and production. The lead guitar works really well, just the right sound. Like the production elements throughout, particularly that change up on the second (last) chorus . . . very creative and well executed. Good stuff!

"watching from the window like a butterfly in glass her arms wide forever held breath of the past so I lost her to the other side of silence" We enjoyed the textured arrangement to the rich imagery of the lyric. It all had a dream like quality that stayed in our heads.  Those counterpoint harmonies sounded great with your lead, Robert. Excellent band, mix and performance, Scott, and we were getting a Jefferson Airplane vibe, which is a good thing! Way cool! J&B Thanks very much for those kind comments, J&B! I`m pleased you thought those harmonies worked. Airplane? I`ve often tried for that sound though I heard more of a Neil Young vibe on this. The guitar intro gave plenty of notice that this wasn't going to be a standard production.  Interesting, and not too far out there. Cool stuff to hear in this song - especially the harmonies on the chorus! Thank you for listening and commenting, David! I really like the surreal, somewhat psychedelic, and other-worldly sound of this. The band and Scott's guitar are essential to create the unusual but intriguing production. Great listen. I like to read your lyrics before listening and let them stand on their own merit without the music. Chorus stands out. Scott, Though we are familiar with each others tastes now, I`m still surprised Scott goes with the "other worldly" songs I throw at him. Many thanks for your kind comments. I found this unexpected and off the beaten track in a good way.

Great job. Thank you! A masterpiece whose lyrics I don't understand (yet?) :-) It strikes a chord with my subconscious, though ... if that makes sense? I will listen again, and read the lyrics carefully - at the moment, it's like a blurred photo ... some bits in focus, for me, some not so much. But a superb first impression, despite my philistine-like mind ... as I said, the subconscious is responding, without the conscious knowing why. From a musical standpoint, a gigantic, immensely successful effort. BRAVI, Spirit Level!!! James, If you listen again,pay no attention to the ghostly woman in the picture;she is young and the lyrics were intended to be about a young man leaving peaceful isolation with his mother to see the world.... I think listeners like songs with room to interpret, but maybe my explanation helps take out some of the blur. Thank you for your very kind review! Robert & Scott

For some reason this sounds to me like an unlikely Neil Young/Beatles collaboration! Loved that quirky intro, it's puts down a great vibe for the tune! You didn't state if Scott was playing here but it sounds like him and sounds good! Those background vocals later in the song are great! enjoyed it! TB

I thought all of the mix was good, but the guitar really stood out on this one. Very tastefully done.
