Hello There

I am a relative newcomer and I'm in the process of setting up a song. I want a hold on a chord. The idea is for the chord to ring out for the bar, then start the instruments again at the next bar. As if the players had stopped playing but the sound resonates for the bar. I understand, from all the tutorials and instructions, that putting three dots after the chord symbol at the start of the bar should achieve that effect. It doesn't -- in fact putting one, two, or three dots after the chord gives exactly the same effect -- a quick chord sound then nothing, almost like a muted chord. What am I doing wrong??/. Has anyone else had the same problem?? What is the fix. I did a chat with the tech support but they just said it should work and to do a factory reset. Did that - same result. HELP!!
