Yes, likewise.
2-5-1 is pretty much everywhere in jazz, at least where it's roots are in North America. It's interesting (to me, anyway), that quite a bit of Cape (Africa) jazz is 1-4-5, but that set-up is very familiar outside of jazz.
FWIW, I quite like the simpler songs, because it's easier to relax and to improvise. We often start our warm-ups with something like a straight 12-bar blues, precisely for that reason.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful.

I like this guy. Jens teaches the focus should be on learning and playing songs, not on practicing a million different scales and arpeggios.
Between him and finding out about shell voicings, I discovered that Jazz isn't so far out of my reach after all.

Jens is a good teacher.
His roadmap course may be something you want to check out.
There are a bunch of great (and many more not so great) sources of jazz education on the internet. Picking a good one and trying to ignore the bad is a solid approach.
While no teacher is perfect You can't really go wrong with Jens.
btw, If you support him on Patreon, He sends you little snippets every week that are easily incorporated into you playing. Well worth $50 per year.

Leaning songs is really the key to learning jazz. You then sprinkle in all that theory scales and arpeggios etc. Knowing the songs changes and the melodies. Very important. You start your improvisations by just playing around with the melody and then connecting those ideas using some of the tools of the trade. Jens is a good teacher.
Most of the YouTube guys are pretty good teachers. I think it is just find one you like and stick with it. Even better, find a local person. Can't beat that instant feedback.
