Hi John. Real sorry to hear about your health issues. I think that $140 is a real bargain for a mic with any quality. We just paid that for a wireless mic setup. It's a Nady uhf-3. We rarely have need for a mic for voice and we got what we paid for. I would not recommend it for serious users. To mic my wife's flute, we are using an AKG 1000S. It's corded and works quite well. FWIW
