After a lot of trial I have settled on the separate instances approach.
Both have pros & cons associated with them.
I don't understand this English sentence. You also use the BIAB main program externally, right? I do not use the DAW plug in. I run a separate instance of BIAB in one window (monitor 1). I run a separate instance of Logic in another window (monitor 2). As I said, its a two edged sword. You give up some convenience. You get a complete interface you already know. For me separate works.

Band-in-a-Box 2026 Video: AI Stems & Notes - split polyphonic audio into instruments and transcribe
This video demonstrates how to use the new AI-Notes feature together with the AI-Stems splitter, allowing you to select an audio file and have it separated into individual stems while transcribing each one to its own MIDI track. AI-Notes converts polyphonic audio—either full mixes or individual instruments—into MIDI that you can view in notation or play back instantly.
