A friend just gave me his old Windows computer with BIAB 2012 installed on it. I don't know which track package it was purchased with but I do know that it has a few more realtracks...exe installation files than BIAB 2023 Pro for Windows has. I just purchased BIAB 2023 Pro for Windows today with the hope that I could use some of those additional realtracks with it and uninstall BIAB 2012.
As a test I installed one of the additional BIAB 2012 realtrack sets on my BIAB 2023 installation. It seemed to install properly and the additional real tracks became visible in RealBand if I checked the "Show RealTracks that are N/A" checkbox on RealBand's track list page. The samples of the additional tracks also played correctly from the track list page. However, when I actually tried to add the tracks to a RealBand track, I got an error message that said,
"C:\bb\Soloists\RPedSt31.ST2 not found. This means that you do not have the RealTrack that is required for this style or solo."
This leads me to believe that either the 2012 installers are not compatible with 2023 or that what I am trying to do is not allowed for some reason and that I must repurchase the additional tracks or a more complete version of BIAB 2023. Any information on resolving this issue would be appreciated.
If you are using an old installer it will install RPedSt31.ST2 *.xt2 in root C:\bb\ so you will need to move them to C:\bb\Soloists\ then click Rebuild in the RealTrack picker.
Also if there are *.stx or *.STY in root C:\bb\ they should be in the Styles folder.
Try the following Utility which might also assist:
BIAB & RB2026 Win.(Audiophile), Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11, Cakewalk Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Session Keys Grand S & Electric R, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M, Pioneer Active Monitors.
Thanks for the reply. The problem is that even though the 2012 installer installs the realtrack demo files correctly, the installer doesn't produce a file named RPedSt31.ST2 anywhere on the computer. This seems to indicate that the 2012 installer is producing a similar file but by a different name than RPedSt31.ST2. If I could determine what the old name is I could perhaps just change it to the name that 2023 expects. Another alternative that might make both versions happy would be to configure an alias between the two names.
Good news - I tried AudioTrack's cleanup suggestion and now it works.

Yes, this Cleanup utility is an important step for anyone who is upgrading from a version earlier than 2018. It reorganizes the folders and files used by BIAB.
Also, for the record in case others find this thread, there was the original comment that wondered if RealTracks from earlier years must be repurchased, and the answer to that is clearly No. The collection of RealTracks just keeps getting bigger each year, and all of them continue to work in the latest version.
