I am certainly not knowledgeable about what is most prevalent in guitar amps being used worldwide. No, me neither. I'm a keys player and use a set of solid-state Yamaha powered speakers. I suspect for most people that modelling is enough and more convenient. As a child, I used to top up my pocket-money by repairing people's failed radios and TVs. I think I was about 9 or 10 when I started that and my mother said little more than "do be careful with that, there are high voltages in there". I can imagine today's parents responses :-)
