Hello forum members

I am taking part in the 50 90 song challenge. This is my first effort. The production and vocal is decidedly shaky (hey, with 50 90 you don't focus on the production but mainly on the song itself. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it!).

This one was for a challenge:
"Write a song inspired by time, units of time, or... clocks!?
Examples: “Rock Around The Clock” (Bill Halley & The Comets), “After Hours” (The Weeknd or Velvet Underground), “Time After Time” (Cyndi Lauper), “15 Minutes” (The Strokes)"

I used LyricLab to generate the lyrics and chords and then made some minor changes.

https://soundcloud.com/josiec-1/regrets-of-time

Style was CSWIMNGA (Country Swing)

You can try lyriclab for free. Get more info here https://lyriclab.my.canva.site/

Lyrics and chords:
[G] Time keeps [C] slipping [G] away
[Am] Like sand through the [D] hourglass every [G]day
[C] Worries [G] fill my [D] mind
[C] What if I'm [D] running out of [G] time?

Oh, the [C] regrets that [G] haunt my [Am] soul
[D] Will I look back and wish I'd [C] taken [G] control?
[C] Don't want to [G] wake up with [Am] sorrow
[D] Regret a choice I made or [C] path I didnt [G] follow

[G] Moments [C] slip through my [G] hands
[Am] On distant [D] shores like grains of [G] sand
[C] I fear the [G] choices that I [D] make
[C] I want to [D] live cause life wont [G] wait

Oh, the [C] regrets that [G] haunt my [Am] soul
[D] Will I look back and wish I'd [C] taken [G] control?
[C] don't want to [G] wake up with [Am] sorrow
[D] Regret a choice I made or [C] path I didnt [G] follow

[Em] Time, oh [C] time, [Em] won't you [C] slow down?
[Em] Give me a [C] chance to turn things [D] around.

[C] regrets that [G] haunt my [Am] soul
[D] Will I look back and wish I'd [C] taken [G] control?
[C] don't want to [G] wake up with [Am] sorrow
[D] Regret a choice I made or [C] path I didnt [G] follow

[G] Time keeps [C] moving it won't [G] wait
[Am] But I'll make the [D] most of every [G] twist of fate
[C] No more [G] worries [C] no more [G] strife
[C] embrace each [G] day of this [D] beautiful [G] life

Joanne,

I think this sounds great. Your vocal and production do not sound shaky to me at all. A nice clean mix - everything balanced very well.

The song has a John Denver feel to me - almost an early 70s Denver. Very nice!

Excellent!

Hey Joanne,

I didn't know there was a dedicated website to generate lyrics so that was the first thing that drew me into your song. With this particular song, I noticed the lyrics are more generalized with a sprinkling of similes to give a more detailed feel. A very interesting project to be sure. Thank you for sharing!

BTW, what is the 50 90 song challenge?

Hi Joanne ...

I agree completely with Bob - not shaky in the least. Solid all the way through.

I'm working on a couple based upon offerings from LyricLab. It's a real nice app!

Enjoyed this a lot!!!!

Nicely done. I've not used the chord function in lyric lab but it seems like it handed you a nice country rocker.

Thanks so much Bob. No matter what I do I always end up sounding like an early John Denver. Luckily for me I really like his stuff, especially the older songs. Thanks for listening and commenting

Hi Dewey
Thanks for listening. 50 90 is a song writing challenge where song writers from all over the world get together in a collaborative environment and try and write (and record) 50 songs in 90 days. You can find it by google.

So glad you are using LyricLab! We are busy with an update where you can generate a song from your favourite picture. So hopefully that will also get the creative juices flowing.

Verses sound like verses, and the chorus like a chorus. The harmony sounds nice.

I didn't expect the fade at the end, though.

Sounds like a solid offering to me. laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Thanks David. The app usually gives you an “outro” and I was trying to get creative… don’t think it worked though!
