I got a phone call from a good friend yesterday with a cool story to tell.

He had dinner the night before with a long-time musician friend of his and of course, they talked music and gear over dinner.

My friend talked about a vintage guitar he had received from a late uncle from San Francisco. His friend shared that he had recently attended a concert in Chatanooga, TN at Songbirds Museum and Vince Gill played a show featuring him using the original prototype Gibson Doubleneck Guitar from the museum.

A bit startled, my friend began asking for details and description of the doubleneck guitar, the luthier (a maker of stringed instruments) from the museum that handled the guitar and more about the guitar's history.

Equally startled was the long-time musician friend when my friend displayed pictures of that guitar and that luthier from his phone's picture folder. My friend was with me several years ago during the physical inspection of that guitar, which I was the owner of, and was in the process of transferring ownership of my guitar to Songbirds Museum.

One of the features of SongBirds Museum is having concerts with various celebrity and accomplished guitarists perform shows featuring rare, vintage guitars owned by the museum. Vince Gill is the ambassador for Songbirds Museum and I believe he's also on their board of directors.

I was quite startled to get this call from my friend about Vince Gill's performance and overjoyed to get the news. It's quite an honor the life and provenance of my former guitar endures.

I don't know if any video was taken of the event but I looked through YouTube SongBirds posts and found the founder/owner of SongBirds Museum telling about my former guitar and validating it is the actual prototype for Gibson's double neck line of guitars that are still being produced today.

Several famous owners of this type guitar are Don Felder (Eagles), Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin, Yardbirds), and Jeff Cook (Alabama), TN at Songbirds Museum.

Here's a post of the Founder/owner television interview: (video set to start at beginning of the interview)
