I read it (Guitar Player) religiously actually. For years I had the Hendrix cover and the Duane Allman cover in frames hanging on my music room wall. Those were the 2 that I would say were my main influencers. I played slide guitar along with those Allman Brothers albums until I could play those exactly like Duane did. Easy and honest thing to say is that I learned to play slide from him. From Hendrix I took away using effects as almost their own instrument. I had an MXR Dyna Comp, an MXR distortion pedal, an MXR flanger, an A/DA flanger, a Bad Stone phase shifter and a wah wah pedal. And I spent countless hours putting them in different orders to see the differences. Dyna Comp first, Dyna Comp last, on and on it went. Only then did I realize that the problem was ME, not my pedals. LOL!
