The title pretty much says it all .... I am entering a melody line over an imported mp3 accompaniment using the computer's keyboard to tap-in the melody's rhythm and then adjusting the notes themselves to the correct pitches in the notation view.
But this time when I switch to Notation view for that, the notes tapped-in aren't showing.
It seems a simple enough process: Enable MIDI wizard, Ctrl+R to record, "Use This Take" at the end when it pops-up, then Notation window to bring out the tune.
So, any thoughts on what I might be doing or not-doing that's causing it to record/save the tapped notes and readily play them over the mp3 accompnimernt, but not appear on the notation so I can go on from there and finsh the piece/song?

Hi Hannay,
What version of BIAB are you using?
Also, have you done this before? And if you have done it before, when did it stop working?
Regards, --Noel

Hi Noel, and thank you
BIAB 2023, and I have done it quite successfully a couple of times but probably a year or more ago now ... my memory of it is that it was a simple thing to do and very useful indeed for the couple of things I needed to achieve at the time.
I've not needed to carry out that process since until now, and I can't say categorically that it has stopped working, it isn't impossible that I have omitted a step or something myself without recalling that it was part of the process.
However, the tapped-in melody/rhythm has been recorded and retained so I've eliminated signal-handling type problems; but I don't know how they then get on to the Notation window for me to recreate the melody to that rhythm by adjusting the notes' positions .... so I can't fault-chase that pathway, hence asking for anyone's thoughts.

Likely the notes have been recorded to a different track than you are viewing in notation. Since you can hear the track being played, you can confirm this by pressing SOLO on the mixer to solo the track. If you no longer hear the track, then you have recorded it onto a different track and you can trace that by soloing different tracks until you hear it. You can do the same test using mute buttons to mute tracks if you prefer.

Exactly the case, Peter! Thank you very much ... it is of course always a good idea to look in the right place if you want to find something In fact, having noted your words it was instantly clear tjust from looking at the Mixer that that was the reason. There was an arbitrary extra track/instrument present thatI had not added myself, and once I had pointed the notation utility to it I was presented with a forest of crotchets and quavers and all their variations which, when I have done very little for it other than tap-in a rhythm, is SO impressive. I assume that I can replace that instrument with a different sound/voice too just as with other tracks? It is a held sound that muddies-up a couple of staccato passages. But in any case, it is always nice when a problem has a simple cause and even simpler remedy Thanks again!

Hannay, Glad to hear that the issue is found. You can use the edit - copy/ move tracks command to move the data that you recorded to the melody track.
