Interesting story, telling not much about the person himself except the six-string, but more about his longing for home, the lovely nature, those bird references and fogs, frost and oak trees really create a nice scene. And finally the beautiful conclusion "this is how we dreamed life would be".
I enjoyed the vocals expressing the sound of passing years.
Beautiful melody and the chord progression is smooth, even closer to soul than country.
The band is great, the harmonica brings nostalgic vibe. I can hear some wobbling (piano?) like from an old tape recording, but that just adds authentic ageing feel.

Hi Janne ...
Thank you very much for such a very nice review! I appreciate that so much.
And yes, the song is more about the event of coming home to stay, rather than about the person.
The wobbling you hear might be a little bit of tremolo I put on the string section. That's the only thing I can think of. These old ears didn't hear it, but that's my best guess.
Best wishes to you and yours ...
Alan
