Guitarist/Bass Players.
If you're not familiar with him, it may be worth a minute to check out
Charlie Hunter is a monster player on a "guitar" much of his own evolution.

Wheelhouse Beats
The product looks like fun.

2 week eval
1 year subscription is $20.

I would think its useful for a bass player.

Assuming you can't master the 6-7-8 strings that charlie regularly plays.
I certainly can't.
I think Few of us can

After 10 long seconds of watching this I was still scatching my head.
Is he on a fat guitar or a skinny bass??? confused

Either way, he's got some real chops.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Both
3 string bottom of a bass
3 strings top of a guitar.
Separate lines out
Pure polyphony
He’s been at it for a couple of decades.
20 cds +-

He’s a groove machine.

smile!

Must have been a mind fart with me. Besides BIAB, I have the Presonus Atom and can create anything I would want.

I see it more of a tool for a bass player.
Bluetooth to a powered speaker from your phone.
Select a groove/tempo.
Off we go.

Start making up some bass lines.

Very easy way to practice a little. Don't need a PC.
$20/year.

Also, Charlie Hunter has evolved a technique on guitar that's worth checking out if you play either the guitar or bass. He's not unique, but there are few on the planet doing what he's doing at his level.

Oh, ...OH...OH!
I don't know. I've been playing bass since 1973. I play when I record songs and when I'm writing a song. I play along with myself and collaborators as well as BIAB.

Developing "feel" is nice but having that "feel" work in a song is more important to me. BIAB isn't quite metronomic...there're plenty of examples in Real Drums where the player swings the beat, gets a tiny bit fast or slow etc.

Mr. Hunter's playing is, essentially, self accompaniment or compensating for the lack of a bass player. He does bass lines & fills with some chords here n there. He'd be fab in a restaurant or in a duo that has not bottom end from keyboards or bass.

What's he offering? Nothing new, nothing ground breaking, so nothing really.

Start making up some bass lines...well, I do when I'm working on the bass part for a song. Bass lines in abstract are fine & dandy but of you commit something to muscle memory and then it doesn't work because the chords don't follow established progressions you could be scuppered.

What i meant by this is that I don't make up lines that become part of a riff library to be inserted into any song in any key. I'm not interested in that jazz style of "vocabulary".

A close friend, collaborator and co writer of mine went to a week long jazz improvisation workshop for sax players. He lasted two days. he said all they were doing was learning a lick, transposing it through all keys and then inserting it into a standard. Stapling together a few licks doing the same and calling it a improv. - he was deeply disappointed.
