Let me try to clarify.

The audio track can be any wav or mp3, both high quality. All other tracks are MIDI. The sounds for the MIDI can be played via Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth or you can select the RSE sounds which are a GP proprietary High Quality Sound Synth with customized sounds with multiple effects for any instrument, including Guitars, Bass, Strings etc. These can sound very good.

The whole "library of songs" available is new to me. Like I said, in the old days these were as prevalent as finding a midi format. And like midi, the quality was hit or miss. They seem to have at some point moved these all together in MySongFolder or what ever it is called now. But a quick web search finds they are still all over the web.

You'll like it.

I've watched a couple of your videos so far. Went ahead and sub'd your channel so I don't forget to watch the rest. I can tell that you have fun with your music.

I've been a fan of Tom Waits for a long time, one, for his songs, and two for, if I practiced long and hard enough, I could probably sing that well. Ha. But I can do sprechgesang with the best of them. Good thing, because some of my neighbors have asked me to stop singing in the shower. laugh

Keep up with the good-time tunes!

Thanks Maartian, yep music is a nice hobby to have along with my latest one, VR headset from Oculus.

No great singer here either, but no one else is going to sing the occasional song I write, so I have to do it myself, and Youtube is good, if for nothing else than keeping all the stuff in the one place.

Update

I have just tried downloading a public domain song using this app webpage, that will search Songster and then will download the Tab which will show and is playable in Guitar pro.

I just tried that web app. It creates a GP5 file that opens just fine in GP8. The quality of the Songsterr transcription of the song I chose left a lot to be desired and I didn't like the way that single bars imported to a full line of the score in GP8, but it did work.

To interested GuitarPro users. I'm making my 1st baby steps with this program. The song I have chosen to learn next is Sara Smile and I was able to find a free GP compatible file for this song. It even came with a quality audio backing track tucked inside with all necessary voices in the band except vocals. This is exactly what I was looking for.

As near as I can tell also embedded in this file is the music and the tab for each of the instruments. At this time I'm only interested in the bass tab and so I've displayed that. I'm really impressed by the volume of information packed into this file.

Is it possible to display the chords above each bar as shown in the intro? I'm pretty sure I can type them in manually by using free-form text but it would really be slick if it's smart enough to do that for me. I'm also thinking at some point to enter this same chord progression into BiaB.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Yes, there is an option to View the chords, but they have to have been entered by the author of the chart or you have to edit the chart to insert them.

The biggest question is whether any of this is teaching you how to read what those dots mean.

Can you read this tab?
