Realband had proper editing functions in the audio tracks, things like split, eraser and mute tools, whereby you can split a section of the track just by a click and then apply the mute or eraser tools.
Cubase has these which makes building up a master track from several sub tracks easy and painless.

you can already highlight any part of a track and delete (edit/cut) that part or apply audio effects such as fade in, fade out or reduce volume to just the highlighted section.

No need to split like in cakewalk, just highlight and do wif it as you want.
