Hi, does any one have experience with Guitar-Pro and/or TuxGuitar. I am looking at using something to create TABs that I can use in the AmpleSound Guitar tab feature. It looks to be a better way to write the guitar parts as compared to a MIDI Editor but I have no experience with either program. Guitar-Pro is about US$70. So over A$100 AUD. TuxGuitar is Open Source so it is free. Looking for any advice. Thanks in advance.

I have no experience with either product but personally I would start with TuxGuitar. It is free and looks very impressive so what do you have to lose trying it?

You could also DL the demo of Guitar-Pro and see which one fits your workflow the best.

Good luck.

Thanks Mario, thats exactly what I’m doing. I’ve had Guitar-Pro for several days now and came across TuxGuitar last night. Now the process of learning each.

Yes, Ample + Tux (or GP) good way to go, but you can also create it in the Riffer while it plays along to the other tracks.

Thanks Pipeline, the Riffer is a handy feature. With GP or Tux it will make entering notation and or fingering stuff easier but you’re right the Riffer working with a running backing might be easier.

Thanks Tony

Question: In Ample Guitar, can you import Guitar Pro tabs directly to Ample Riffer without first converting to MIDI?

Once a guitar tab is converted to MIDI notes, articulations will become key switches, and many of them will be either missing or malfunction.

I heard people saying they can import tab to Riffer, I just don't know how.

Not sure if you can import multiple bars of gp tabs to Riffer, or only one bar is allowed.

Please help!

I have the Ample Ethno Banjo. In it - once you have a tab loaded there is a button along the bottom (looks like the RIffer button at the top) that will send a measure to the Riffer.

So far, I've only been able to convert one measure at a time (whichever measure the cursor is on).
I'd love to be able to do multiple measures at a time if anyone knows a way to do that...

I have heard back from Ample Sound customer service. You can only convert one measure to Riffer, then save that Riffer file. Then you need to combine the Riffer files you saved, and edit the code in these files, and there would be math involved to calculate the note's position and duration.

The latest update to the Ample Sound Banjo (released July 26) converts the entire Tab file to the Riffer.
Not just one measure at a time.
A Huge Improvement.

I would guess the guitars would all include that, too...

floyd jane you are correct.

I tested on the latest 3.7 version of Ample Guitar LP, and yes, you can convert the entire Tab to Riffer.

Great!

There is one fatal problem though: The Tab reader does not recognize tied notes, it gives blank wherever there are tied notes appear in the Guitar Pro tab.

I also found a solution: Before loading a tab to Ample, go inside Guitar Pro or TuxGuitar, manually convert all tied notes to dotted notes, save it, then load it to Ample, 100% of the notes will appear.

Ample Riffer is such a powerful tool to create top level guitar solos.
