Watch THE FREEZE on YouTube

Hi everybody,

It's been almost two years since my active time in the forum, and there's no doubt: I sometimes miss all of you and your fabulous music very much. I sincerely hope that all of you are doing well.

However, I won't be able to come back in the foreseeable future. Maha has been seriously ill for several years now, and recently, she had to undergo breast cancer surgery. I am very much occupied, and there simply isn't time or leisure for time-consuming (yet beautiful)regular activities like the forum. I must admit that I haven't even had the chance to check out BIAB 2023, let alone use it yet

I am still working on a few videos, but it can only be done in small portions. If I manage to finish two of them this year, I'll be very pleased.

So, because I don't think it's fair to post here without listening to and commenting on your work, I won't be doing so in the future either.

The reason I'm posting THE FREEZE (which I completed in 2022) here is that Marty (Babu), whom we all know and love, stars in it along with his granddaughter Charley, and I don't want to keep that from you.

And since it's customary, I'm also providing the musical details:

Keyboard: RT 673 (Chris Nole)
Guitars: RT 3249 (Bob Lanzett) and RT 1401 (Sandy Williams)
Bass: I used two classic bass lines that I've always adored: Tramp (Otis Redding and Carla Thomas) in the verses and 'Knock On Wood' in the choruses.(MIDI ( NI Factory Selection)
Horns: Arranged by me, MIDI/Vintage Horns (Big Fish)
Drums: Arranged by me, MIDI/PowerDrums 2

I would be very happy if you enjoyed the video and the song.

Please take all good care of yourselves and your loved ones,

Stefan

Cool band you've put together there.
Cool band with a cool song with a cool grove.
Love it.

And it's always fun to see Marty (who is rumored to have been born with that hat) dancing around.
All the best for you and your loved one from Germany!

That was a lot of work.

It reminded me of a gig, so very many years ago..... A cold cloudy windy day.... on the back of a flatbed trailer at an outdoor pig picking event in December.... who schedules a pig picking for December anyway? It was so cold that we were actually thinking about trying to play with gloves on. Instead. we just took longer between songs to let the feeling come back into our fingertips.

Nicely done....

WOW, Stefan! You know how much Charley & I love this song. She's still practicing her FREEZE dance, but she can't get it down. I told her that's the point. She just left for her first day of school, so... Funky Fritz will give ya a call.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Stefan and Crew,
What a weird and fun tune! Excellent job of organizing everyone involved and producing this Cool song & video. Awesome musical bed, brass work and your vocals. Listens very well! Marty is very picturesque in that hat. A great memory keeper video for Charlie.

P.S. Stefan, I was just thinking about you couple of days ago when a friend showed a new video clip for his new tune... Kind regards to you and Maha.

Hi Guitarhacker,

thanks for commenting ! Oh boy - who wouldn't remember a gig like that, when fingers were so stiff that one could hardly hit a single string... Luckily BIAB can be 'played' inside ;-))

Take care,

Stefan

Oh Marty, what would I have done without you, my voice alter ego... (Everybody goes, "WHAT?)

Enjoy the weekend,

Stefan

Hey Misha,

thanks an awful lot for that very kind review. As you may remember I'm a big admirer of what you do, so your words count (at least) double.

I hope that you and yours are in good health - turbulent times over there. And the whole world's watching...

All the best,

Stefan

Hi, Stefan.

Ha! I always enjoy your submissions! laugh

The lyrics are pretty hilarious, too:

But every time they skip that rope
   They need an intermediate landing.

Catchy song, nicely arranged and sung, as usual.

Sorry that Maha is continuing to have issues. Time to comment or not, it's good to see you here in any form.

Thanks for finding the time to post this!

Stefan, don't worry about posting. Just take good care of Maha.

There is so much going on in this video its scary! It must have taken you a number of days to create it.
The music was top notch also, loved that groove!
Real sounding horn section.

Stefan,
your circumstances are understood.
Just post when you can- plenty of folk post frequently & don't comment without a whisper of justification.
I miss your humour & visual stuff but I miss your songs more.
Best wishes to Maha: fingers, thumbs n eyes crossed for smoother time.

Cheers

What a wonderful tune. You are blessed with a sense of vision and talent that transcends the unwashed masses of us splashing around in the sea of original thoughts. I REALLY enjoyed this. A wise man once said 'Things will all seem to work out in the end and if they havent yet it just because it's not the end'.
Thank you for posting this, my thoughts are with you.
