Thanks Everyone,

I went with the Mac version and got the external hard drive. Since I use Logic Pro all the time and been using it for years that made the decision for me. It looks like the 2023 version is night and day from 2009 and has many things I wished for in 2009. It looks like it's going to be a joy to use. I'm so glad I got the UltraPAK this time.

I'm still downloading files; the download manager is a joy to use as well.

Thank you again for all your advice much valued and appreciated.

Soundhauler,

Congrats on your decision. What a difference 14 years will make for you.

Lots of Mac/Logic users on the forum.
Some pretty big brains in that department.

The UltraPak, imo, is the best value. All the Styles and Real Tracks give you plenty of options
Good choice.

The Win version is released in Dec then the same programming has to be done to the Mac version that can take 6 months or more in some cases depending on what apple keeps changing, then when it's released there are usually lots of issues that need ironing out.
I would recommend going for the Win version if you have Win hardware also.
If the Win/Mac used a common crossplatform audio format you could do a crossgrade and have both versions.
You can use the Win Audiophile version with Mac as Mac will use the wav files. You just need to convert the wma demo files to m4a.

Thanks Musocity

Waited to long to get BIAB should of upgraded a long time ago, I may do what you said and get the Windows version as well later after I'm done kicking myself in the backside for not doing this earlier.

Your Windows laptop with 2TB sounds like a powerhouse that can handle BIAB and more for quite a while. But I get your concern about Mac versions becoming obsolete. If you're leaning towards Mac, you might want to consider the longevity of software updates. And hey, when I can't decide on something, I use a dice roller online to add a little randomness to the decision-making process. It can be fun! Ultimately, it boils down to your preferences and what works seamlessly with your existing setup. Both versions have their strengths, so go with what feels right for your music journey.

One point to clarify. I don't think Peter said Mac users out number Win users, he said Mac sales are edging ahead. I would bet there are still far more win users overall.

I just bought the Mac 2023 BIAB and I love it, but I'm wondering if there's any difference in stability with plugins in Mac BIAB versus windows.

*Kontakt 7 - mac biab : crash
*Falcon (UVI) - mac biab : crash
*Analog Lab (Arturia) - mac biab: crash
* IK Multimedia modo drums and modo bass - mac biab: crash.

I'm seeing a lot of plugin crashing.

Just a reminder but the Windows BIAB comes with ReaBand - a DAW with BIAB generation capabilities. and its much less fussy about OS updates than the Mac version from queries on the forum.

You might consider posting about your issues in the BiaB for Mac forums.
Hopefully someone there will be able to advise.
Also, please consider giving as much detail as possible on the steps you took that caused the crash.

If you use https://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/trial/ you can have a common hard drive with wav files that both MacBB & WinBB can use, there is also free https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads that can be used with the same hard drive.
Having the Win version also will give you the new RealTracks on Mac at the same time as Win and not 6 months behind.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
