As to the pun/reference/double entendre: I found it cringe worthy the 1st time I heard it. Not much has changed since.

It got to Number 1 so I guess that it must have been appreciated by at least a reasonable number of listeners. Possibly many, many more than the song writers that deliver regularly to these forums.

Re statement: "a form of torture"? From Wikipedia: "Torture is the deliberate infliction of severe pain or suffering on a person for reasons such as punishment, extracting a confession, interrogation for information, or intimidating third parties."

The melodic, ace harmonious song, good voices and "perky production" of 'Afternoon Delight' relate as 'punishment' and 'a form of torture'. Personally, I didn't think it was that bad.
