Hi Folks, I've just updated to .5 on BB and Realband. BB seemed to go well, but Realband wouldn't run after the update. I installed the update again - did a return to factory settings - reconfigured everything and Realband now starts and runs correctly. But the thing is, output from both Sampletank and Kontakt seems to be much hotter that before. I can open a midi file (that was made in BB) that used to play well, and some to the instruments will drive my M-Audio Delta into the red. I sort of like it except I'll have to readjust my midi files if I want to use them in Realband. That's not really a problem for me, because I always remix everything before going to .Wav anyway. I'm running XP SP3, 1.8 duo with 3 gig. M-Audio Delta. My question is, has anyone else ran across this. In other words, is there anyone who can load a VSTi and a midi file, and see if they are outputting more than before the update? Jim
I'd be completely happy if I had just one more guitar.

This is one of the issue i was refering to in another thread. In RB Sampletank will alway start at full volume until you move the volume fader on the track, then it will pickup the reading from that track and adjust to the volume of the fader.
This i assume is caused by the VSTi not totally syncing with the host. I guess it is part of the same problem of the timing issue.
So just take the fader of the midi track and move it slightly and it should then set at the proper volume setting that the fader is sending.

Hi Fellows and thanks for posting.
rharv: After more testing, I think you are right in stating it as a slight increase. That's what I'm seeing with Kontakt. The master volume in SampleTank was somehow set higher and that threw me off until I figured it out.
Robh: I hear you bud. I've just wasted another two hours trying to get some sort of work flow established with Realband and ST. :>( I give up. lol
Later, Jim

Yeah i just expect to have to do a volume adjust after adding ST into any track.

Somewhat related to this, I too am using Sampletank (I'm using RB 2010; haven't yet upgraded to 2010.5). It works well in RB for me for the most part, but I've noticed that when operating the volume slider in RB I can never get a track armed with ST to go to the max 127 setting. They will only go to 97 when maxed. I can go into Sampletank and manually adjust the volume knob to 127, but when the song is stopped and re-started, it pops back to 97.
At first I thought it was a cc setting, but even after stripping all of the continuous control settings out of a track, this behaviour still persists. So for now I've just learned to live with it. If anyone has any insight on this, please let me know. Thanks.

Hi Terry,
I may be misreading you, but I think that's the way it's supposed to work. RB can send cc messages to ST, but ST cannot send cc messages to RB. That would be normal for about any vsti I would think. Try this. Left click to Select the track you want, then right click and select 'insert volume change'. (it's toward the bottom) Set what you want . Then Hit your dxi button so that you can see ST, move that window around a little until you can see your play button on RB. Hit play and see in your vol doesn't go to the exact value you put in. It should. And of course, if you hit save, that info is saved in the event list and it should persist. If you want a volume change anywhere else, right click out in the track (say bar 15) and that should move the cursor there, do the 'insert' thing again and it should place that change exactly where the cursor is. Hope this helps

To Robh, yes that is what I have been doing (bouncing to audio so I can set the track volume where it needs to be.
To Jim, I will try your suggestions to see what happens.
I'm just curious though as to what is controlling the volume relationship between the two programs, and why 127 in RB seems to equate to 97 in ST. In RB, when I move a track's volume slider, it indeed changes the volume knob in ST, but it is not a 1 to 1 relationship, meaning 127 seems to equal 97, and lesser volume numbers in RB equate to similar unequal levels in ST. And then, as stated, even with all control commands stripped out in RB, a "127" setting in ST will revert back to 97 when the song is stopped and started again. Load a completely different song file and the same thing occurs.

Hi Terry, When I have ST loaded and open where I can watch it, I can move the slider in RB and watch the numbers change in the vol column in ST. I can take the number down to 0 and up to 127. If you can't do that, you might want to contact support. I'm running .5 by the way.

Ok Jim, maybe this was something that got fixed in .5. I'll have to re-visit the issue when I get the next upgrade. Thanks.
