Reverb is certainly a parameter that can be controlled through MIDI using a Continuous Controller Number (CCN), and there are many more effects listed in the specification, but I guess the VSTi / MIDI device needs to have the ability to understand and process these messages. I wonder if that's where the shortcomings are?
