what a great song. kinda reminds of ELO, or believe it or not "The Beatles". I love the all around production of the song, and the vocals are spot on.

Hi Tory.

Wow! What a sound. This is a fantastic production. It really sizzles. You certainly have the knack for getting the most out of an arrangement. I love the way that this song feels immediately comfortable and from the start, it has the overtones of a promise of an excellent musical journey, and it doesn't disappoint. You and Ron had done a great job. I love the hook "get busy living or get busy dying"! There's a lot of meaning in those words.

It's two enthusiastic thumbs up for me!

I don't think I'd touch a thing on this one either.

Thanks so much! Yes that Ibanez is a heavy beast! Over 10 pounds easily! The pickups scream! To think that I used to wear that thing 4 hours a night, 5 nights a week...crazy! T

Nice message and well delivered, Torrey. One suggestion: the word "wisdom" in the chorus is emphasized on the wrong syllable which is a bit unusual to the ear. I understand it rhymes with 'yet to come' but maybe there are alternate word choices. This is a nit-picky thing but wanted to mention it.

Overall, this was a good write and listen IMHO.

Thanks Scott,

I never picked up on that Lennon song and lyric until you mentioned it! I actually went back in and changed the song to include John's name in the lyrics. Hopefully I didn't borrow too much from him here!

Thanks David, Ronnie Noel, Eric, Waoband, Mario and Dewey( I read your comment about the wrong syllable emphasis and have decided it's not something I need to address now.

The lyric speaks well to the philosophy of making the most of every day and of keeping dreams alive.
Janice wanted to especially note the poignancy of the lines below:

“Notebooks filled with my shattered dreams
Full of words that no one reads”

Your vocals sound great, the solo is powerful and that old Ibanez surely was happy to be played. smile

We do LOVE a shuffle!

Nice group of session players too.

We hope the best is yet to come for all of us!

Nice tracks. Well mixed.
Sweet vocals and BGVs.
Quality guitar solo. That 40 year old Ibanez sounds great.

I always enjoy listening to your Music. (they aren't "just songs").
And, again...I know folks always reference The Beatles, but MAN! do you remind me of Todd Rundgren (I hope you recognize that as a HUGE compliment) with some Badfinger sprinkled into the mix. A great Sound.

Agree with all that!!! ......you have a sound, and I believe I have also compared it to Todd Rundgren.......I'm a huge fan of his, and yours!! Great stuff!! Take care. Greg

Thanks Greg! I'm not that familiar with Todd Rundgren outside of the radio hits, but I'll gladly take the positive comments! T

Torrey,

Great sound on this . . . your vocal is terrific and the whole song has a Steely Dan feel, but unique and all yours. Excellent harmonies . . . well-balanced against the lead vocal. Terrific write, even better tune. Outstanding!

All my best,

Deej

Torrey,
"Get busy living or get busy dying". - Nice!
Really well produced tune. Excellent lyrics. Solo is hot! Rich arrangement, super vocals, just good song all around. Sounds like a lost ELO tune.
Thank you for sharing.

Misha.
