Looks like first version of the Roland SPD-SX sampling pad was release in 2003. Has gone through two major revisions since than, one in 2011 and the second 2022. I have a number of harware gear in my closet from that era. Most of it is dead or obsolete. So I personnally don't have a positive impression of hardware stuff. Of course I am also not a drummer. So what do I know.
