I've been wishing this for years....

I wish BB can also have a Real Time Arranger mode like the live arranger modes of Roland RA, Korg PA, Yamaha PSR and others...

It will be fantastic to control BB with the chords that I press on my keyboards in Real Time and it will bring more live performance magic to the software instead of waiting to type all the chords and circumscribing to a designated number of measures to perform from the beginning to the end.

Thank you.

It actually a very interesting topic. I can only assume it is resources that are limiting this. Real tracks / Real Drums are real audio. Compared to PSR which is MIDI.
However, current arrangers (Genos, I believe) is using similar technology as BIAB (audio+midi). I wonder if you can play live these audio things in Genos live (change chords live) I am sure you can...
It might be that Genos is using much smaller files chopped up, so they are responsive to live chord input. Again, I fully support this idea, just not sure if it is possible with current code and average hardware people have at home.

My guess it is... If you already made your style selection (all real tracks + drums), in theory it could chop all phrasing and load them ALL. Which will likely require big and fast memory chip and time it will take to load this monster into memory. I guess, if it happens it could bring a good chunk of new people into PG world.

Rusty.
i doubt we will see a totally fluid solution.
i'm sceptical because of the delay (no matter how small)
between user action and machine reaction.

justanoldmuso,
Samplers, romplers and everything in between had been around for long (long!) time. I am sure it is not simple programming, but in theory it is possible.

Rusty.
yep ive used samplers etc in the past.
maybe pg should hold user referenda, as to future features.
i think youll find there are tech reasons why this feature
might pose a problem. this feature has been asked for many times over the years.
best.
muso.

It has been and remains a very worthwhile request. I can imagine that there are definitely ways to achieve such a result from inside the program. Good request, and another vote of support.

The more I think about it, they should be able to play it direct from disk, so what ever chord is entered on your midi keyboard it will play that section in the files.
Just like Kontakt will play the samples of the notes you play,
or UJAM Virtual Guitar/Drum VSTi will play the phrases for each Chord you are playing on your keyboard,
so if I load UJAM Bass, UJAM Rhythm and UJAM Solo they will all follow the chords I play. So Biab could do the same, just as UJAM plays direct from the large sample libraries, it would load all the track data of all the RTs & RD of the style you choose and that is the sample library it plays from.

Below is a video demo playing a RealTrack file direct from Biab USB disk, Biab would read the data for the RT/RD files of the style.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/n83ve8lpfml0efb/RT-Play-from-Disk.mp4?dl=0
So the data would be something like the csv region data in Reaper for the RT file below with start and end point in the wav/wma
AcG011.csv
AcG011.wav
Code:
#,Name,Start,End,Length,Color
R1,A,1.1.00,3.1.00,2.0.00,FF80C0
R2,A,3.1.00,4.1.00,1.0.00,E41A27
R3,E,4.1.00,6.1.00,2.0.00,E41A27
R4,A,6.1.00,8.1.00,2.0.00,E41A27
R5,E,8.1.00,10.1.00,2.0.00,E41A27
R6,D,10.1.00,12.1.00,2.0.00,E41A27
R7,E,12.1.00,13.1.00,1.0.00,E41A27
R8,F#m,13.1.00,15.1.00,2.0.00,E41A27

So it would work in a similar way as the midi keyboard Styles work.
Below is the make up of a keyboard Style, you have all the different sections then those sections of midi notes are just snapped to your chord notes you are playing.
But with Biab you would get way more diversity and Real playing of Real Instruments.
Look out Yamaha, though they do now have Real Audio for their drums in some Styles of the better keyboards.
