Link to my track

I'm fairly new to the program and have been working on this track for the trane tune 26-2 and I'm getting some strange quirks in the drum track where the volume drops off suddenly (0:42 in the attached mp3). I like the transitions in dynamics but only if I can get it sounding more natural.

My other question is about getting pushed beats right on the drum track, this same kind of quirk happens (at 2:03 in the mp3) where the and-of-4 is supposed to be pushed in the bass and accented in the drums.

My last question is about getting the last beat held longer, in the track I have the end chord set to 'hold' but in the track it's very short. I'm trying to get a sustained bass note with maybe a cymbal crash that's held out for the ending. Is this possible to do?

I've also attached a screenshot of my session if that's useful. I've searched around the forum and online for the answer so apologies if I've missed anything obvious here, any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!

It's not possible to tell from the screen capture. Could you upload the BiaB SGU file to Dropbox or a similar file sharing system and send us the link? Someone here will hopefully be able to work out what's going on.

Welcome to the forum. I'm a jazz player. I'll try to find some time to load your song but this week isn't looking good.

Just browsing it briefly, that's quite a fast tempo. I see only one Shot, at measure 130. The rest of the chords at the end use Holds (three periods) but exclude the drums (adding the letter d at the end). I see chords beyond the end of the song; not sure what you intended.

If you want a drum cymbal crash, you are more likely to get one if you use a shot (not hold) on your final chord and make sure the Bar for End of Chorus is well beyond so a cymbal ring doesn't get truncated. Then use a part marker on the start of the final chord, and make it a different type from the section that just played. The most pronounced drum crash is to go from a B green section to a blue A section.

If you don't want a shot in the other instruments, experiment with freezing some of the tracks then changing the shot/hold status in the unfrozen one(s).

Finally, there is a setting about drum crashes in the Preferences, RealDrums. I'll see if I can find it when I get back to my computer.

Another thing to try that might fix at least some of the issues is to select Options > Return to Factory Settings > Most.

You are best to do it manually by loading the JazzTerryClarke^ wma/wav into the DAW at the needed tempo then you can adjust the speed, levels and timing to get smooth transitions. If you look at the end of the drum file you will see the hits used for pushes, shots and holds.
If you drag the Drum track to DROP + and render to wav dry, flat and center it will be at the same level as the source drum track.
Then you can edit the sections as below.

This is the source drum file from the drum folder in the bottom track, the DAW is set to 248 bpm and the source file is set to 250 bpm in the DAW:

Alright I've been at this for a bit and still can't seem to get BIAB to do what I'm looking for. Resetting to factory settings had no effect. I've been trying Matt's suggestions, first of all I'm not exactly sure how to fix the ending bar of this song. The final bar is the Fmaj7 at 131, when I set the end to 131 it adds a greyed-out bar with an extra Fmaj7 at 132 for some reason? Then I hit backspace on the chord at 132 to get rid of it but as soon as I generate the track bar 132 is back and added to its own line, why does the program want to keep adding this extra bar? I also can't seem to delete the unused bars at 132-255 for whatever reason and they just stay there greyed-out. I've also tried every possible combination of hold/shot with and without including it in the drum part and the drum part still freaks out when it gets to that section. It would be nice, if possible, to get the drum part to accent that push, the way that a real drummer would if playing this tune, however, I would settle for just having the bass push those chords while the drums just continue to play time without any accented push but for some reason this doesn't happen when I hit 'except drums' in the chord settings menu. Worst case scenario I'll just have to not include the pushes at all for the outro but it'd be a nice touch (this track is for my grad school auditions for anyone curious). I'll look into how freezing tracks work next and try that.

musocity's approach sounds like it would work well for me as I have some experience editing audio in pro tools so I could just hack away at the actual audio region to get what I want. My only question is how do I export the wav file of the source drum file at my selected tempo?

Thanks for the help/patience with answering what are probably pretty obvious questions, sometimes searching the forum for a specific solution to what I'm trying to accomplish feels like trying to find the needle in the haystack crazy

Very good. Take heart, you'll get past most of this. And there will be some things BIAB cannot do, or cannot do easily. For those, audio editing may be the best solution.

BIAB has a limit of 255 measures. Whatever you don't use in the Chordsheet View is still there, grayed out.

BIAB has, in the Song Settings (Ctrl+N) a checkbox that adds a two-bar ending. I think that's the original default value. It's better in many cases to turn that off and roll your own. In your song, set that Bar at End of Chorus to 142 or thereabouts, so the sound has a chance to decay, and it doesn't overwrite your last measures of chords with the auto-generated ending. The Bar for End of Chorus is useful when the song has repeats, but in your case, the number of choruses is 1 and there are no repeats. A lot of users here (not all, not me, but it's fine) prefer to lay out all songs that way. Again, it's roll your own when needed.

At this point, may I recommend you make separate threads for each specific question. Then we can knock them off one by one. This thread is already pretty complex.

An alternate to getting the Drum Track converted to audio quickly and without rendering, saving and importing the saved WAV file is to convert the track to an Artist Performance File. The APF can be user selectable as WAV or M4a. The track label will turn orange and the Freeze icon will change to audio icon. You can use the BIAB Audio Editor as it will now be seen as audio rather than RealDrums data.

You can also select the audio editing tools available from the Audio Button at the top of the Main Page to access additional edit features not available in Audio Edit Window edit button and Plug-ins. .

Pro Tools should have a clip properties to set the source tempo of the clip to 250 then it will adjust to the 248 project tempo.
You can also set a new Pro Tools session to 250 bpm,
import the 250 bpm drum file from the Real Drums folder then set the Pro Tools to 248 bpm and the drum file should adjust,
now you can drop the 248 bpm drum file from Biab and edit the section you don't like by adding sections from the Real Drums source clip.
Just make sure you render the drum track dry, flat and center with DROP +

MIDI is another option, if you drop the track to DROP MID.
