Definitely movie soundtrack of the 60s and and early 70s feel and certainly Morricone-like in parts. It had me interested all the way through. You put a lot of hard work into the arragning to get all of those sountrack-like changes in, so well done. WaoBand, Thanks for your comments. I certainly don't mind being mentioned in the same breath as Morricone. Cheers, Mike

Hi, Mike. Very much an early '70s vibe here. Some very pretty major 7thy stuff here. I didn't expect the horns and strings! Clearly a lot of work went into it, and I'd be interested in hearing more details about it. Very cool! Thanks for you comments Dave. The intro piano part is edited from SuperTrack 1892: Piano, Solo accompaniment PianoWaltzJohn SW140. The intro drums are RealDrums (JazzWaltzLewis). The other parts I wrote and assigned to instruments from Kontakt 7 Factory Library 2. The title is a play on the words 'piece' and 'peace', with the constantly changing themes and rhythms (a fragile piece) reflecting the the chaos of a war-torn region (a fragile peace). I hope that's not too much information. Cheers, Mike

Hi Mike,
Really, really nice! As B.D. mentioned, could be a real nice movie score.
Love how you transitioned the various movements - simple and smooth. Epic and captivating. I can only try imagine the time and effort needed to write, arrange, and produce this. It works well and is a real joy to listen to.
Glad to hear you're on the mend - keep getting better! Wishing you everything good.
Alan

Mike,
Always enjoy your music. Well thought-out and extremely well executed. A ear-catching arrangement. Well mixed.
What piano vst are you using???
fj Thanks for your comments Floyd. Glad you like it. The piano was the Grand Piano from Kontakt's Factory Library 2. Cheers, Mike

I thought this was well done.
A pleasant arrangement and pleasing sounds.
On the mix, there COULD have been (not to say there needed to be) more dynamics in the volumes, instrumental tones, and mix (when stuff comes in and out )
With instrumentals, you have nothing but instruments to add dynamic rise and fall so you really have to work those faders in my humble opinion.
Just a thought.
Nicely done. Thanks David. You're right about instrumentals relying on instruments. There are no clever/sad/thought-provoking lyrics or a beautiful human voice to add dynamic rise and fall. It's just the music. But it is rewarding trying to produce a piece of music that listeners can appreciate. Cheers, Mike Mike, Cool mood and instrument changes throughout the composition. Like listening to several different tunes that have s omething in common., which is not a bad thing by any means. Interesting listen and thank you for sharing. Misha. Misha, your comment, "like listening to several different tunes that have something in common", is just what I was aiming for - a 'fragile piece' of music reflecting the 'fragile peace' of a war-torn region. Thanks for listening, Mike Piano editing works well. Pleasant, easy-going melody in the first part. I like the changes. A bit of a medieval feel in the middle. This was just a plain cool and interesting piece. Thanks for taking the the time to listen and comment. Mike

Mike,
Great opening to this song . . . then the flute (or synth?) kicks in and it’s soothing, then back to the opening riff before picking up . . . and then slowing down into those horns. Very ambitious arrangement . . . I’m typing my comments here, and then there comes a new sound, a new direction . . but it all hangs together wonderfully. Brilliant instrumental!
And, I’m glad you’re back in action after the health challenges. Good to have you back on the forum and hope it continues to go well.
Best regards,
Deej Thanks Deej for your comments re the song and for your good wishes. Mike Mike,
Glad to hear you are doing well.
This is quite the beautiful and epic sounding piece! Loved it!
Bob Thanks Bob. Your comments are much appreciated. Mike Mike, glad to hear your recovery is going well. This is a very interesting piece or should I say pieces. It is a testament to your hard work that you were able to bring together several different sections and make them work as a whole. A fascinating listen, Tom Thanks so much Tom. Cheers, Mike

Mike, this is on outstanding instrumental. Great work on the arrangement, nice changes. Loved all of those instruments you so expertly played Great mix.
I'm glad you are feeling better. Welcome back and glad you are on the road to recovery.
Wow! ... epic in sound, great arrangement and engaging dynamics all through.
We can envision all kinds of imagery which makes it very cinematic in nature. It could work in a variety of visual productions.
All of your track performances are standout!
Enjoyed it,
J&B Could be a movie score. Beautiful piano parts, and I like how you fade the different instruments in and out, a bit like in prog music. Amazing drum parts, even if the drums sound a bit thin and artificial in places. Overall, one of the best instrumentals I've heard here in a long time. Mike, Very clever and ambitious. Had me engaged throughout.
Peter Thanks Mario, Janice and Bud, B.D. Thomas and Peter F for your comments. Sorry I took so long to acknowledge. Cheers, Mike

Hi Mike,
I don't typically comments on instrumentals because it's not my area of expertise but I really enjoyed this one.
You sure have put a lot of work into it.
I think it could easily be used as a movie sound track.
Well done.
Merry Christmas Nigel

Hi, Mike !
Film Music was my first thought ! What a beautiful tune I love those chords (the progression) ! I have not heard anything better from you - on the other hand I may not have heard so much as I´ve been away for so long ! 😘
In any case, this is a masterpiece !
Cheers Dani

Hi, Mike. The other parts I wrote and assigned to instruments from Kontakt 7 Factory Library 2. ... I hope that's not too much information. Thanks! I've got a bunch of virtual instruments, but I haven't played with the Kontakt Factory Library yet. I probably should, since it was free. And no - with me it's hard to give too much information. Did you write the parts out of paper first, or what? I'm always curious about people's workflows.

Mike. It does sound like incidental music to a movie. Plenty of variety. I could imagine many scenerios. Well done.
