I can relate to lying awake in the middle of the night, although the problems that keep me awake are much smaller than those huge ones you describe.

Anyway, good lyrics and the words flow nicely along the catchy and pleasant melody, the title hook is very memorable.

Your instrument choices are once again very well thought, enjoyable bluesy rhythm and the solo guitarist fits well. Nice details in the arrangement, instrument breaks sound very natural.

Excellent mix and your vocal is strong as always.

Janne

Hello Hans ...

Most of my music is written between midnight and 4:00am.

I really liked the wide panning of the acoustic guitars - filled the entire soundscape. Real nice lyric, vocals, and band. You have a lot of talent, my friend!

Take care,

Alan

Hullo Hans.
My suggestions are how I would write it so it sounds smooth to me.

Re the chorus: It does sound "correct" but sounding "correct" is sometimes not enough in a song.
A formal letter from a lawyer may sound "correct" but would you talk or sing the same way?

The phrase "come morning" is an artistic way of saying "when morning comes".

I hope you are not offended by my comments. It is your song so you must write how you feel it.
Regards,
Vic

Hi Vic,

I was very pleased you took the time to help me achieve better lyrics.
So of course I'm not offended. Not at all!
My reaction was meant as a very serious answer on all your suggestions.
Maybe that anwer could have given you the impression I was not amused, but that is not at all the case.
Of course I could have said "thanks Vic" and leave everything as it is, but I'm not like that.
So thanks again and please keep making 'sharp' comments about my songs, lyrics, pronunciation or whatever.

Nice day,
Hans

First, welcome back and you have been missed. smile

We like how the song gets grittier and
more intense as the night goes on.

The lyric is one we can relate to. We love the lines about the angry birds and the swirling bats.

Excellent vocal, write, band, arrangement and mix.

Here’s to a good night’s sleep!

I love the guitars. They drive the energy of the song. I like the effect you put on your voice at different part---just the right amount without overdoing it. I can identify with the lyrics. Good work!

Fabulous band!
I like everything except where the FX were increased massively in the 2nd run through of the chorus.
Midnight ramblers must've been about exactly what your describing.
The break down at 3.18 is ace.

Cheers

Hans,

Love that opening riff—kills right out of the gate. Your vocal is crystal, sits wonderfully in the mix. The guitars really groove . . .and the solo slays . . . love how it leads into that slow down with the piano and love how you pick it back up again. Cool tune!

Kind regards,

Deej

Hi Scott, DC Ron, Nigel, Anne-Marie and Marty,

Very nice to read your posts on the song. Also funny only Marty more or less recalls having 'middle-in-the-night' thoughts or things like that...
It's an important moment in our lives I believe ;-)

Hi Scott, thanks for all you said. Especially about the mix. I remember times... You too, about your lead guitar in my song?

Hi Ron, that bridge, well I feared I had to lower the tempo of the song, but then found another solution, mute all instruments except the piano and put in the chords with the 'hold' dots in BiaB.
The piano did what I asked. Thanks!

Hi Nigel, I was a bit amazed to get a post from you. I thought these kind of songs are not your taste, so thanks a lot!

Hoi Rob en Anne-Marie, fijn dat jullie konden luisteren en dus ook weer je neus laten zien hier.
Veel dank voor je commentaar en je aardige email. Zal het even vertalen voor de anderen:

Hi Rob and Anne-Marie, very nice you could listen to my song and be around on the forum.
Many thanks for your comment and your kind email.

If you wrote this one while lying awake, you should never sleep. Love that bereak in the middle of the song where you plead the Universe to let you sleep. Seems the Universe enjoys your sleepless songs, too.

Hi Marty, I hope you learned from it by trial and error. Leave a notebook or recording device next to your pillow. I don't need that myself. I remember all, except what I don't remember... But they are not important than, I think. The universe is, by the way, the entity that keeps me awake all the time. Maybe they want to prefent me from making songs...

Till our next song!

Hi Janne, Al, J&B, Ezekiel, Ray and Deej,

I noticed the song was already on page 3, so there are a lot of new songs added since I posted this song.
And I did not reply so quickly. Shame on me. But, there is one excuse; I was completely caught by a new song I was making.
It wasn't the plan, but it came to me, let's say in the middle of the night. It was a nicer tought than in this song.
Anyway, thanks a lot for your posts, thoughts, advice and support. That's what I like from this forum.

Janne, what a nice post! And as I wrote in the first lines above, I also have creative thoughts in the middle of the night. Like you. For the song, I just fantasized about that specific time of day, because of all the serious things happening in our world.

Hi Al, I did that too, but I was younger than. Now the writing of lyrics and songs is happening the whole day through...
As for that panning, I thought about the stereo field for this song and tried something different (for me). Normally I pan the piano to the right and all the acoustic guitars to the left.
This new way worked well, given your and some other comments on this topic.
And thanks a lot for that 'talent'part. Made my day!

Bud, and Janice, how many times have you written "welcome back" in my case...?
I think many times. Thanks for that, I hope you don't have to write this more often, but it was a 'strange' year for me and not yet passed, I'm afraid.
But songmaking continues again, whatever time of the day.
And your post helped to get that sleep you wished me. Thanks for it!

Hi Ezekiel, I think most of us have their creative moments in the middle of the night! Not just the difficult ones.
Thank you for your very nice words!

Hello Ray, thanks for this great compliment! I had already prepared myself for the worst, because of your sharp ears.
I agree with you about fx in that part, but I couldn't get rid of it, it wasn't really an extra amount of fx, it 'just was there'.
Of course I tried some things, but in the mean time I start liking the effect of it. Try it, listen 3 more times ;-)
