And now for something completely different... Crazy Dusted this one off for a proper mix and master. Sweet work DC Ron! Congrats. Loved the brushes and vibe. I also liked those rhymes --without them sounding predictable...a nice flowing song. Be great to spin an album with tracks like that. Best, Chad

Ron,
What a great listen! Crooners, Big Band, and Swing are three of our favorite genres to listen to. The style, plus your vocals, reminded me of Steve Tyrell, my favorite contemporary male Jazz singer. Very, very nice!
Take care,
Alan

DC Ron,
Nice throwback tune . . . yeah, I could hear Tony singing this one . . . though your vocalist does an excellent job. Brushes is the right choice for this song, but I’ve never been a huge fan of the BIAB brushes as they come off a little “static-y” (but it could be sounding more so as I’m just listening over my laptop). Not sure if there’s something you can do from an EQ perspective. Great mood and feel—terrific listen. The lead solo is also pretty spot on at the end—almost would have liked to have heard more of it. Excellent work here!!
Best regards,
Deej

Sweet work DC Ron! Congrats. Loved the brushes and vibe. I also liked those rhymes --without them sounding predictable...a nice flowing song. Be great to spin an album with tracks like that. Best, Chad Chad, glad you enjoyed it! My lyricist gives me a lot of latitude to interpret, which is nice. On the other hand, he also embeds a lot of internal rhymes, half rhymes, and other twists. So I really have to stay awake. Spent over twenty years playing nothing but jazz standards, but have nowhere near an album's worth of original content. But I think a jazz vocabulary is transferable to many other song forms. Tension, release, melody and harmony just don't go out of style, regardless of the style. THANKS for the listen! That's different and well done. "Different" and "well done" neatly sum up my aspirations for this song. Glad it worked! Ron, That's a great sound. Excellent vocals and the instrumentation is perfect. A really good set of tracks - well mixed. Bob Bob, THANKS for the listen! If I listen to a mix a hundred times, I'll always find something I need to fix on listen 101. Maybe I found the right stopping point on this one. But if I listen AGAIN...Ha! Glad you enjoyed it! DC Ron, this a fantastic. Outstanding vocal and lyrics. You nailed that genre! Great backing band and outstanding mix. PS Waves Grand Rhapsody and a Casio MG 510! We have to much in common Mario, this genre never gets old to me. Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, I haven't heard a piano emulation I like more than Grand Rhapsody, and Casio guitars are STILL the bomb. Ron, What a great listen! Crooners, Big Band, and Swing are three of our favorite genres to listen to. The style, plus your vocals, reminded me of Steve Tyrell, my favorite contemporary male Jazz singer. Very, very nice! Take care, Alan Alan, THANK YOU for the compliments! My vocalist is sublime, but this is the first jazz tune I ever sent him. Thought he might turn it down since I only knew him from his contemporary vocals. Turns out he's a jazzer and Nat King Cole fan. So he really dug into this, which I appreciate. Listened to a couple of Steve Tyrell tunes, since I don't know him. He's got a really nice emotive feel. Very rarefied air indeed! DC Ron, Nice throwback tune . . . yeah, I could hear Tony singing this one . . . though your vocalist does an excellent job. Brushes is the right choice for this song, but I’ve never been a huge fan of the BIAB brushes as they come off a little “static-y” (but it could be sounding more so as I’m just listening over my laptop). Excellent work here!! Best regards, Deej Deej, glad you liked it! Y'know, I seriously dislike using BiaB brushes (and maybe all brushes) because most times they are either too "swishy" in a spare mix, or get buried in a meatier mix. But as you note, this song really required brushes, so there they are. I kept fluctuating the EQ and mix between "swishy" and "buried" until I got to this one. Don't think I'll ever be 100% ok with the brushes here, but I may have to live with it. Glad you liked the outro. I really like playing jazz guitar solos, but thought the shorter ending served the song better than me showing off. FWIW, I wrote this song for solo jazz guitar, but...that wouldn't be fun on a BiaB forum, would it? Ha! THANKS for the listen!

Cool and lovely song. I really like the rhythm tracks.

Cool to start a post with a Monty Python quote. What's even cooler is this song, Ron. D.A. Hughes sounds perfect. Great feeling and phrasing. Man, I love the feel of this song. Well written and performed. What a wonderful band, too. I'd stand in a long line for this.

Hi Ron,
Your clear singing sounds so pleasant. So nice to listen to! I read the title, Crazy, and I expected something crazy and not really this style. But you did a really good job of making it sound crazy in the best sense of that word. Very well done, Hans

This is really top quality!!! Effortless command of harmony, and of the chord progressions appropriate for this style. It's hard to state in words just how good and well-written I think this is. You are a TOP musician - bravo.

Cool and lovely song. I really like the rhythm tracks. Thanks, WaoBand! Yeah, a lot of the jazz RealStyles are just mind blowing. Cool to start a post with a Monty Python quote. What's even cooler is this song, Ron. D.A. Hughes sounds perfect. Great feeling and phrasing. Man, I love the feel of this song. Well written and performed. What a wonderful band, too. I'd stand in a long line for this. THANK you, marty! Good on you for your Monty Python trivia knowledge. Not a lot of people know that. (I'm overflowing with obscure anglophile quotes and misquotes) I've heard Dusty (aka "D.A") sing hundreds and hundreds of songs. Literally. I had no idea he would even SUBMIT to doing this, much less knock it out of the park. Turns out that he's a Nat King Cole fan. Huh. Who'da thunk? Hi Ron, Your clear singing sounds so pleasant. So nice to listen to! I read the title, Crazy, and I expected something crazy and not really this style. But you did a really good job of making it sound crazy in the best sense of that word. Very well done, Hans Hans, so glad you liked it! The "crazy" part is a joke between me and my lyricist, who is not a fan of jazz. He gives me lyrics and I give him a song. Usually rock, punk, pop, jazz, folk, country or rap(!). Sometimes I send him a joke song that is an absurd version of his lyrics. Later, I'll do a more serious version. But in this case the joke was on both of us, as the joke version was far better than anything else I could ever do with these lyrics. Truthfully, I spent over 20 years listening and playing jazz, almost exclusively, so have a better than average knowledge of the genre. But there's a big difference between riffing off of, say, a traditional jazz standard, and writing an original sounding jazz standard. This is probably as close as I'll ever come to writing a new take on a jazz standard, but I can live with that. THANKS for the listen! Smooth and sensual, Excellent lyrics, they really work. The backing is perfect, you nailed this, for sure. THANKS, Audio Track! Oh, wow. I don't think I've noticed you on this sub forum, though you're all over the BiaB main forum. THANK YOU for the listen. The lyrics aren't mine but I love them, too. They are "modern" but that's only a relative term, right? For example, "fluorescent lights" might be "LED lights" today, though that's less poetic. And "cable network news" used to be one thing but now it's...something else. Yes, this is a really good RealStyle. I can use it over anything I hear in my head and it sounds exactly right. Only better. Ha! This is really top quality!!! Effortless command of harmony, and of the chord progressions appropriate for this style. It's hard to state in words just how good and well-written I think this is. You are a TOP musician - bravo. musician17, so glad you liked it! I blush when someone calls me a "musician" because the level of musicianship on this forum is so off the charts. I truly am not worthy. But it still feels good to hear. THANKS for the feedback! Nice Jazz Piece here Ron. Really smooth! Enjoyed this a lot. And thanks for turning me on to the Roche Sisters!! Thanks, David! The Roches rock, but Gayle has got more than a little something, too. Ha!
