Because it's a bit off beat I thought I mention it here.
Others most likely know but I just found that in RB I can enter my chords, go to tracks, choose a track and style and generate a midi file for channel 1 piano, guitar, etc, nothing new so far but going to the next track I can change the style and create a midi pattern based on that style which is different from channel 1 on channel 2 for an instrument based on the channel 2 style and so on.
It might be interesting to choose 2 different piano styles to compliment each other like a Dave Brubeck jazz on channel 1 with a mellow pop(guitar or piano) on the other channel.
It also can get nasty very quickly with the wrong choices too, but with a cut and paste you could use just what works.
I was just noodling around and found this so it's new to me, maybe not to others.

Since I don't use RB, that is news to me. That might not be a bad thing, either, if I can import into Sonar from RB. Never tried doing that, either.

I see you haven't been reading mine or Silvertones posts Wyndham but it's good you found this feature. This is the "killer app" part of RB and what makes it head and shoulders above any other DAW. When people say that RB is a hybrid of Power Tracks and Biab, this is what they're talking about. To me it's no big deal that RB can simply open a Biab file, the really big deal is the fact that you can create multiple parts on different tracks using however many different styles you want and you can do it with either the Biab midi parts or with Real Tracks and Real Drums. Not only on different tracks either, you can swipe a part of any one track and only generate that portion of the track so you can put several different styles on the same track. When you combine this with using some tracks from a good midi file plus any live audio recording you do makes RB unique in the DAW world.
This feature Gary, is why I always question why someone cares about D & D to another DAW like Sonar. Sure, they have different workflows that you may be used to but RB really does have all the same functions and you can work just as fast once you get used to it with the one glaring exception of the VSTi tempo lock problem. One example is using volume envelopes. It's true it's not as elegant as some DAW's but RB does have that feature. Some people think that RB has problems with many different VST's but to me that's not true. I have a bunch of different plugins and they all work fine except for this one thing. Even the point about some VSTi's like SampleTank not responding to the volume slider is no big deal to me because I render my tracks to audio as soon as I'm happy with them anyway.

also, since existing tracks in RB don't get regenerated every time you add a new part, you can even modify the chords for each part. For example, for pads you may want very simple triads, but for more decorative parts you can add transition chords or more complex variations of the base chords

Bob,

Its true that realband has some great features, by the way Wyndham thanks for showing that one to me, but so far I mainly use realband to generate all the realtracks I need and then I use it to export all the midi styles and realtracks to separate audio files which I then work on in cubase.

Why cubase since realband can do the same thing?
I find that realband has hard to use routines when trying to build up a master track from a number of sub tracks.

In cubase I just use the scissors tool to split a track and then I can mute with the mute tool which is X in cubase to silence that section.
Don't know if that is possible in realband Probably is but takes a lot longer to do?

The mixer in cubase is great as well, with mute, solo read and write and other tools on each channel.

I wish I understood more of the "How to" post but I usually have to trip over it before i see what it is.
I've had BIAB and now RB for years but am always learning what's new to me.
Pat, I was thinking about the different chord patterns and how that might work. Since I'm not instrument capable, I just try different things that might sound good in either program till something works.
Bob, there are some interesting piano parts in different styles that when looped and changed to guitar, work quite nice.
I think I might give up my day job and head to Nashville, I can hear it calling now. Or as my wife sez "He can sing one song"On a Hill Far Away" very ,very far away" .
Well back to the potters wheel, gotta make some more mugs in case we get some "Turestas" coming back from the beach next week. Maybe after that, then I can head to Nashville.

That reminds me of something a friend once said. He wanted to join the church choir, but didn't have a clue as to what part he should sing. So he went in to audition. After the audition, the choir director said that she would like for him to sing tenor....

ten or twelve miles away.

This is a great feature.
Will this work with 2009.5?

Different Styles for each instrument in same song. Vey cool.

Wayne,

Yes, this is one of the original features that caused a lot of excitement around here when RB was first released. I think what the problem is with a lot of folks is they hear that RB can open Biab files and think it's just a different version of Biab and don't bother learning what RB can do. It can do a lot that Biab can't touch. Not that it completely replaces Biab though, these two programs complement each other.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
