<< musocity's approach sounds like it would work well for me as I have some experience editing audio in pro tools so I could just hack away at the actual audio region to get what I want. My only question is how do I export the wav file of the source drum file at my selected tempo? >>

An alternate to getting the Drum Track converted to audio quickly and without rendering, saving and importing the saved WAV file is to convert the track to an Artist Performance File. The APF can be user selectable as WAV or M4a. The track label will turn orange and the Freeze icon will change to audio icon. You can use the BIAB Audio Editor as it will now be seen as audio rather than RealDrums data.

You can also select the audio editing tools available from the Audio Button at the top of the Main Page to access additional edit features not available in Audio Edit Window edit button and Plug-ins. .
