THE ROAD THAT LEADS ME HOME (Audio only)
YouTube video

After hearing Tom Adams new one (a top shelf Bluegrass offering) I was inspired to share this one on the forum. I have made a couple of runs at this Bluegrass-Pop (I guess-tell me if it should be differently genre labeled) song over the past few years. I was listening to it again recently and knew I had to do a better job with the vocals. My writing partner Ron Helm and I decided to re-arrange the lyrics also. I replaced the BIAB bass and acoustic guitar parts (with the exception of one rhythm track) with my own playing. I spent most of my time re-recording the background vocals and trying to get them tighter. I feel fairly confident that this will be my last try at this one. Thanks for one more listen! TB

The day I left there were no goodbyes
Or a moment to share a smile
Now I find myself out here alone
On the road there’s lots of time to think
And dwell on those mistakes I make
And wonder if I’m needed any more

I've got a fire burning deep, deep inside
It’s keeping me and my dream, my dream alive

Oh, to get back those old memories
And live them once again
Can you help me find the road that leads me home
Still I feel no guarantee
That home awaits for me anymore

I’ve been on this road so long
I don't know why I’m here
Can you help me find the one that leads me home
I guess it’s true my life’s the sum
Of the choices that I’ve made
Yet the more I learn the less I seem to know

Still, there’s a fire burning deep, deep inside
It’s keeping me and my dream still alive

Oh, to get back those old memories
And live them once again
Can you help me find the road that leads me home
I want to soar on wings of love and let them carry me
Along the narrow winding road that leads me home
Still I can't help wondering
Does home await for me anymore
