I can choose tracks but within GarageBand, the plugin refuses to accept any keyboard input into chord chart or tempo, etc.

I just tried this with the same results. Doing the same in Logic works fine.

Just did a quick look and the plugin works in Garageband for me. What version of the plugin are you using? It would be under File | About, in the plugin.
Also, is your keyboard set to a language other than american English?

Is the "Musical Typing" window open in Garageband? If so then all keyboard input will be picked up by Garageband rather than being sent to the plugin. In my testing if I open the Musical Typing keyboard window then I can no longer type in the plugin. Once I close the window then the plugin starts working correctly again. You can close the window by clicking on the "Window" tab and selecting "Hide Musical Typing". Hope this helps!

I did a TeamViewer session with one of your techs. Tried everything. No one could figure this out.
