OKAY, I do listen and respect the ears of commenters with good ears.
I've followed advice and tweaked/tuned the chorus fairly lightly to avoid the dulling effect tuners have, (they reduce the dynamic & freq range so they can do their magic), I've posted the link below this UPDATE:
TWEAKED

BIAB drums, organ and some incidental guitar licks.
Anthony - vocals & lead guitar
The rest, as they say, is my fault.
A quick n easy song I hope.
GHOST IN THIS HOUSE

Thoughts, comments, etc. most welcome.

Each word a recollection
Each day a verbal memoir
Each thought a past expression
Each episode a scar
Each moment a reflection
Each glance gone back too far

There's a ghost in this house
A TV eye refugee
There's a ghost in this house
A blur only the watchful can see
There's a ghost in this house
A ghost shadow of what's to be.

Each sign is a deflection
Each one leaks from the cracks
Each brings day's visitation
Each night to re-eneact
Each thought regurgitation
Each time more jumbled fact

There's a ghost in this house
Persistence of a vision's plea
There's a ghost in this house
It's hidden in the chroma key
There's a ghost in this house
It's in plain sight no one can see

Each placed in the collection
Each noted for recall
Each one had predigestion
Each filed to install
Each caught in thought congestion
Each stuck when thrown against the wall

There's a ghost in this house
It flickers between frames of we
There's a ghost in this house
That others' eyes choose to not see
There's a ghost in this house
And the ghost appears to be me.

Hi Ray,

You always come through with some really great stuff. The lyric comes across to me as somewhat foreboding and carries a sense of mystery until the final line of the last verse., Nicely done!

The vocal was just a wee bit pitchy in a couple of places, but not nearly as bad as some of my vocals. I didn't find it distracting, though.

The first thought that came to mind as I listened was: Holy crap - A lost treasure from The Byrds! It reminded me, in style, of "Turn, Turn. Turn" and, to a lesser degree, "Mr. Tambourine Man." Nothing wrong with that!

Another sound and entertaining project, Ray!

Take care.

Alan

Thanks Alan,
Yeah, a little flat but it really, to me, suits the song - the late 80s n early 90s had a fair few pop classics that were "fashionably flat" - stuff by the Bronski Beat in particular.
Anthony was fine with being "tuned" but I found the vocal charming so left it pretty much alone. Very nice references mate - you're a generous chap.

Ray,

I love this... It has that late 80s, early 90s Indie Pop sound. There was a group from London called The Field Mice - this would have fit into their catalog perfectly.

Anthony's vocals sound great as does the production. Great video as well.

My weak spot: Catchy, jangly pop! Love the modulations between verse and chorus sections. Super composition and arrangement. Mix sounds spot on. Nice guitar solo, too. I might have tuned the vocals but agree that there is a certain charm the way they are. Superb job all the way around!

Oh, you have some very engaging faults, Ray. I like the way Anthony attacked the song with his vocal and then with his guitar. Hey, why you look so angry when you play guitar. Love that bass, man. Very cool harmonies, too. If I hear 80s and 90s in this one, it's probasbly the influenece from the 60s that is in there that I latch onto.

Enjoy whatever happens!

PBX adds a touch of commercial Pop! A very cool sound. (the first single from the LP, I suspect)

Nice jangly guitars. Very cool Bass.
Drums could peak out a bit more.

I agree the slightly-off vocal is charming in the verse.
Not so much in the chorus. Having the chorus be very-much-in-tune would offer a nice contrast. (I very much Like the chorus!)

I like it.

Thanks DC Ron,
I thought about it and experimented with it but it sounded more organic to my ears without any. That's not to say that a better user of the software wouldn't have made a better job of it and it may be, just a tad, of the old repetition makes it right syndrome but once the draft vocals were replaced I mixed fairly quickly I liked what I heard.

Thank you Marty,
The 80s & 90s sounds mentioned are revitalisations of the 60s sounds so you're spot on. Power Pop, in particular, had a glorious rebirth in the 90s.
Why do I look angry? That's my concentration face. I don't spend enough time with a song to learn how to play it without a chord sheet, (always my Achilles' heel), so have to look at a sheet and concentrate...even so I couldn't remember the bass line properly so did a very simplified one for the mime.

Ta Floyd,
a bit of Rickenfaker 12 string followed by Fender style 6.
I hear what you are referring to in the chorus. The little bit of tuning I attempted made the vox sound dull so I left them alone.

It's definitely yours Ray. Nice production
I think a chorus has to be near in tune though. Being the part that people remember.
O.K! Call me old fashioned.

Had a listen to this yesterday and again just now. I like the groove and the lyrics. Nice bassline! I also like the guitar solo.

Vocals have grown on me, I didn't care for them yesterday but thought they were ok today. The only tool I have ever found that does a good job tuning vocals is melodyne, anything else leaves artifacts. I don't use it when Chris does the vocal, but it gets a pretty good workout when I'm doing the vocal eek

Very cool ending, didn't see that coming!

Good song, Ray, enjoyed!

Ray, I sure do like the sound of the Rick 12. The bass is well played. I agree the organic feel of the vocal is fine in the chorus. I think a very good point was made about tuning the chorus. Overall I like the 60’s Byrds like sounds here. Nice job, Tom

I like the song, it has your trademark (dark) mood and quite interesting lyrics and vocals.
The cymbals could be a bit less bright/loud, as they fight a bit too much with the vocals in some parts.
But that's my only nit smile

Cool song!!! There is a 60's vibe to the backing tracks, and the drums sound great! Love the musical change in the chorus!! Everything works! But I think the vocal could be a little louder in the mix. Really nice work!!! Take care. Greg

Thanks Vic,
There's a tweaked version in the O.P..
it's not old fashioned but fashionably flat was very 90s.

Thanks Dave,
I've "Dyned" on the chorus a bit in a report.

Thanks Tom,
The 12 didn't shine until I doubled it with a Squire Mustang...once they were together the kling n klnag happened... the chime was there in the strummed 12 but despite the compressor & spring reverb the accent notes didn't work until Squire time.

Thanks B.D.,
You wouldn't believe the high shelf scoop already going on with the drums...any more and it becomes snare n kick only...I'm looking forward to more Drum Stems to avoid that sort of thing.
