Wondering if anyone else getting error message when rendering to mp3 (every time).
It says that it's trying an alternate method and does create an mp3 file, but it's 44100 not 48000,
(as specified in the rendering window).

Some of the error messages from the log file....
Rendering succeeded! [2024.1102.0, 12/10/2023 8:39:27 AM]
Audio Conversion Error: Media Foundation failed to convert to .mp3. Trying alternate conversion method... The error number is -1072875854 [2024.1102.0, 12/10/2023 8:39:26 AM]

I have seen these errors with very few specific tracks.
Can you please mention the style or specific RT's if it is a custom song

Thunderthud,
I picked the RT's in your group. It seemed to render OK, but I did get the message you got.
I will report it. Thank you for pointing it out.

Do you end up with a working MP3 file, or does MP3 conversion fail all together? Even if Windows Media foundation can't do it for some reason, it should fall back to another method, which does work on a lot of systems.

Did create an mp3 file, but lesser quality. 44100 instead of 48000.

There error is spurious and can be ignored as it does produce the MP3 file after all. The error message will be gone in build 1105.

MP3 encoders can be limited to 16bit/44100Hz. If you are concerned with higher quality compressed files, I recommend that you use M4A instead of MP3.

Why is the option for 48000/24Bit mp3' s available in rendering options, and why did it work in previous versions of BIAB? Why is there only an inferior MP3 rendering engine being used?

Okay, sorry Blake, but your "solution" is totally unacceptable
(and apparently Audacity has no such problem producing a high quality MP3 render.)

Unfortunately, BIAB renders to mp3's sound "pretty darn bad" (being polite),
(currently using BIAB 2024 Build 1104) AND covering up the error message won't fix this.
PLUS the tempo and pitch are off as well. (88BPM becomes 81BPM in the BIAB Render)

At the link you'd find three files...
The original SGU File,
A File rendered using BIAB.
A file captured using Audacity while played back in BIAB
Then rendered with Audacity to an MP3 file. Please check out the difference!

Thanks for linking the files, that is helpful. I can duplicate this when selecting a 48kHz sample rate for the rendered audio file (mp3 plays slow/low). We will look into this further. In the mean-time, you can fix the problem by selecting 44.1 khz as the sample rate - To do this, click the Wave button in the File panel, select Export song as audio file, and then click the defaults button prior to rendering or select 44.1 as the sample rate.

Thanks Andrew! The problem didn't exist in 2023 Version. Hope it can be solved fairly soon

This is fixed in build 1105. The patch is not released yet and will be in pre-release testing for a little while, but you can download it here if you wish:
https://update.pgmusic.com/support/patch/bb2024_win_update_build1105.exe

If you encounter any problems you can re-install the build 1104 patch.

Well, with Build 1105, it's now working as well as 2023 Version, which is quite an improvement...
BUT... Upon checking, using 2024 Build 1105 and 2023 Build 1013...
Both are actually generating 41000 when set for 48000
(Don't know what other (if any) settings might be getting ignored)
See attached image of Rendering Settings

That could explain why in the past the BIAB MP3 renders[/b] haven't
sounded quite as good as when listening to the playback in BIAB.
To verify this to myself...
In the past, I've captured BIAB playback in Audacity, and then rendered from there.
The Audacity rendered MP3 always sounds more like BIAB being playback
than the BIAB render to me. Just an observation
But thanks for getting things back to status quo!
