Great old fashioned rock song with nostalgic message, common worry in the everchanging world. The state of the town is pictured with vivid lyrics.
So many excellent things here: riffing, catchy chorus, clever ending - or is it the beginning of the ending smile
Great delivery: a strong band superbly mixed. The vocal and harmonies are lush.

Really nice work on this.

Kinda reminds me of the one I did a few years ago on the same topic. Dust on the floor.

By the way, it's the same story no matter where you live. Even though I'm probably a bit younger than you, I feel like a stranger every time I visit my hometown.
Thanks for the nice words. These days it feels like everyone is younger than me. But that’s Ok. It beats the alternative, Tom

I love how you always seem to mange to come up with a killer guitar riff to support the song, that's a gift not many have.

Good one!

David, thanks for the comments. The bass and drums are loops. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Tom

Tom,

Another really good country rock tune. Cool vocal and slick lead guitar. Nice specifics all through the lyric, which is what make a lyric great. Excellent!

BRILLIANT SONG! And totally relate to the lyrics. My hometown's nothing like it used to be in my childhood and teens. It's a UK east coast resort and along the front excellent old architecture's been replaced with gaudy plexiglass fronts, the main shopping road used to have big old trees on both sides, but all have gone leaving it looking sterile, and old family shops which were there for decades have all vanished, most replaced with charity shops. I suspect lots of folk on this forum relate to the song 100%.

Some favourite Waoist Adages:
#1: Play on the Way.
#13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you.
#58: Bring consciousness to it.
#63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made.
#92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

“There’s an IGA on one end of town VFW on the other
The graveyard next to the Pizza Hut’s where they buried my dear Mother
Old men in caps and overalls no longer sit and talk
the hands don’t move like they once did on the courthouse clock”

The entire lyric is a great capture of so many of our Georgia small towns, and the above verse is outstanding.
We often talk about missing the sight of the “old men” in overalls sittin' and whittlin' on benches in front of the clapboard neighborhood grocery store.

Awesome steel and guitar Tom, along with your vocals! And, man, that mix!!
Loved it!
