Please see the attachment, then zoom to approximately match the zoom size on the screen... Then try to create a couple of volume automation points and move them around. This craziness always seems to appear for me.
Plus, a second issue that I had mentioned, about setting volume automation points around a specific area of the waveform, Press the space bar to start play and the set area you've mapped out moves compared to where it was in relation to the waveform.
