I am a pre-newbie, and I am not that computer savvy, so I jotted a few notes:

I have a 2 GHz Core Duo Processor with 1 GB Memory. Mac OS X, Version 10.5.8. I will soon be making my first BIAB purchase. My winter goal is to make about a dozen realistic Standard Jazz backing tracks. I don't read, but have access to numerous fake books and sheet music.

I don't want my computer to suffer the consequence of my purchase. I feel more comfortable if BIAB was on a separate HD like with the Ultra Package. Does this mean, I can plug in the HD when I'm ready to use BIAB, and unplug when I am not? Or, should I purchase a less expensive start up package that won't dog my computer function and be satisfied?

It seems the best opportunity would be to wait for the next release and then buy the Ultra. What would others do?
