Thanks! Yes, I agree and in addition to your insight, it's not specifically the instrument name in Logic that I am talking about ... it's the actual filename of the track as imported from BIAB.

With these automatically generated long filenames it's taking additional steps to identify and manage the tracks quickly in a given folder on the computer which is why I prefer to rename the files with only "song name & instrument" . In the case of instruments filling multiple roles I may have multiple tracks of the same instrument recorded or generated so in that case I would rename as follows:

"song name/ instrument /soloist"
Or
"song, name/ instrument/ background/"

This keeps it nice and short for de-cluttering the desktop as well as the DAW workspace especially when working with multiple windows.

Also: I'm seeing that the BIAB filenames don't alway make sense ... for example when I use a cello real track I'm getting "piano" or "strings" or both in the now incredibly long filename.

If there was a setting for automated abbreviated or shortened file names when exporting It would be nice.
