In Ctrl-T mode (I don't know what else to call it), with the Tracks Windows most of the screen and a fairly clean look at top (the Custom tab allows me to have the functions I most often use or change) it has become a much more "today". (see attached).
When I am working in this screen, my attention is on the waveform window. Full attention. I am accustom to the transport controls (in other programs) being right in my field of vision (most often at the bottom). Moving attention to them (to start or stop playback) does not drag my attention away from the main window.
In BIAB it does drag my attention. I cannot get used to looking into the upper left corner for those controls. It takes my attention fully away from the main screen and interrupts flow. (for me) (It's even worse if the old interface is up - I find those buttons even harder to find)
Can the Transport Controls be added to the top of the Tracks Window? Right between the Edit Riffs button and the right edge of the screen.
How do you get just the mixer window there? Is it a photo montage or what?
Not a photo montage. That is what my screen looks like. Ctrl-T to change to the "new" look And then click the Track Windows. Nothing magical or complicated. It just happened that way.
In case anyone gets confused, Ctrl+T is a toggle. It flips back and forth between the pre-2018 interface design and the current one. In addition, there are two little icons in the lower left of the Drag-Drop area that can select the two choices. I don’t know that there are official names, but some us call the one with a larger Chordsheet area the ‘new GUI’.
BIAB 2026 Win Audiophile. Software: Fender Studio One 8, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Presonus Quantom HD8 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.
An alternative (though I'd still like the buttons on the grey line above the tracks) is to... Move the Title and Style box(es) to the far left ... That would put all the stuff on the left in the middle... so the Transport Controls would then at least be in the same field of vision as the tracks. You might then consider flipping the Controls and the progress bar so the Controls would be closer to the tracks.

Biab-Floating-Transport.zip install www.autohotkey.com then set C:\Program Files\AutoHotkey\AutoHotkey.exe to Run As Administrator by right click Properties > Compatibility. Keep the images and the script in the same folder. You can make it bigger if you like or add more buttons.
You just double click "Biab floating transport.ahk" you can shortcut it to the desktop. I have asked PG many times for something like this either built in to Biab or have a scripts menu that will show all the AHK scripts in C:\bb\Scripts folder and run them from the menu. You can add any other buttons you like to it, each button will run a BB menu item or shortcut keys
WinMenuSelectItem, ahk_class TBandWindow, , Play, Play Special, Play (with Generation)
so you can add any other function to it like Ctrl+F8 to generate selected region.
If anyone wants anything added just let me know and will update the script.
We can all wait in hope that PG will release something like this, but we all know that may never happen or happen 10 years down the track. It took me about 30mins to make.
