Hey guys, im very much a noob so i appreciate when you share your knowledge. I am 99% done with my song but i have 1 issue. The last bar of the song is a hold for all instr. The problem is i want a drum hit (kick/cym or sn/cym) on the 1 to accentuate the hold. BIB is only generating a cymbal hit. How can i manually add a kick/sn or even a tom hit?

use midi drums on a separate track and play in the note for the hit you want. at least that's what i'd do in RB which is simplicty itself but not sure about BIAB but it must be possible

Mario, starting in BiaB 2023, there are playable RealDrums. I don't use them myself, but in theory they SHOULD allow you to do what you want IF you are using a playable RealDrum. Search "playable RealDrums" and check it out!

Each RD has a corresponding audio “kit file” containing a sample of each hit. I cut them out of the file and often double the snare or make up my own fill or tag or substitute a hit as you mentioned. All done in my DAW which may not be your approach so FWIW!

I always move my tracks to my DAW where I can easily grab a kick or snare hit, copy and paste it to where I want to get what I need.
I find that method so much easier and quicker than trying to figure out how to get the software to do what I want in BB.
I have also added midi tracks and synths to the project and played the part into the song and used volume envelopes to do the edit as needed. With proper EQ, no one even notices that it is a different kick, snare, bass, or piano in that specific measure or two.

Some of the new BiaB tools MIGHT make me start doing more inside of BiaB. But I've got a pretty fast workflow right now, and then there's that whole old-dog-new-tricks paradigm...

Thanks for the comments regarding my workflow. I don't feel it would be a good topic for the tips forum as IMO it would be easier to work with midi or the drum stems. This is just the way I've done it as other than MST's (which I love) I have no midi experience and haven't thoroughly explored the stems approach. Getting a bit long in the tooth for more ventures down production rabbit holes.  Bud

Hey Bud,
I like those drum stems. There seems to be quite a few of them now for certain styles.
I know that some of the drum styles have up to 13 stems and maybe even more.
I have created a special mixing board just for drum stems only in case I want to put in that level of time, and I even have little icons you know for kick, toms, snares and so forth to cover all of my bases.
So if I decide to use the stems then I can just go in there and individually fade things up and down and mix them in and mix them out and so on and so forth.
So it does add a whole new level of possibility, but there's also the time Factor.
With the number of things that I have to get done during the course of each day of my life I have to be very careful about the number of hours that I put into things so I wouldn't necessarily always have the time on every song that I do to go in there and pull all of the drum stems into a mixing board and do a complete mix of my own apart from what you would get by just exporting the drum track and eqing it.
So for me everything has a Time Factor built into it and whether it's worth my time to do it because there's only so much time in the day.
But I have to say that having the drum stems available should you have a project where you want to meticulously mix the drum stems to your own taste and spend 4 or 5 hours doing that I think it's great.
Otherwise I'll just take the drum track as is, put a couple of drum specific vsts on them and call it a day.

Totally agree, the older I get the more valuable my time is.
Otherwise I'll just take the drum track as is, put a couple of drum specific vsts on them and call it a day.
I now have a different approach. With my new Roland sampling drum pad I just play my song (in my DAW) and jam and record real-time to it on the drum pad. It's fast, fun and allows me to put more of me into it. As far as my DAW is concerned, it's just another input like by bass guitar. PS> I'm not a Roland salesman or own any of their stock, just recognizing a great physical instrument when I see one.
