Revisited this again today and previously I made a mistake by not selecting the note I wanted to 'hold'. It still doesn't quite do what I envisaged but I think that may rely more on the style that's used.
As I don't fully understand the Tracks Window yet I haven't quite worked out the video musocity posted. Trial and error seems to be the order of the day here!

You can hold a MicroChord as well.
Right click on the bar you need, then choose MicroChord Settings. Then in the Set MicroChords dialog box, click the Chord Options button and then click Okay. Then choose the beat and und eth the Rest, Shots, Holds section, select the Rest type >Hold Chord from the drop down. Then click Apply. You should now see your chord with three dots after it.
