Sorry if this has been asked before. I couldn't find it discussed. I'm having issues getting lyrics to paste when using the paste text to song dialog box. To test it I copied an existing BB demo song with lyrics to the clipboard using the edit, copy special, copy to clipboard option. I tried with bar-based lyrics and note-based lyrics. (Only bar-based lyrics exported properly). When trying to paste I see the lyrics in the dialog preview. However, when I paste there are no lyrics pasted. Is it possible to import text files with lyrics into BB 2023 (Win 10) and soon to be BB2024? Here's a snippet of what's on the clipboard. Thanks. ... [Chords] |a) Em| A| D| A| ... [ChordsEnd] [Lyrics] | I was | drinking in a bar- | room down in | Texas | | ... [LyricsEnd]
+1 I spent an hour trying to get this to work this morning and thought it was something I was doing wrong!
Like you, the copy special to clipboard or text file works and copies the lyrics but when pasting special, the lyrics don't get pasted just the chords.
I haven't tried it, put I'm aware that PGM have included in 2024 an importer for Joanne Cooper's AI lyrics generator (LyricLab), so that format may be worth a look. Charlie Fogle posted an example in this thread.

Hi Gordon. Thanks for the info. I did see that but it is a paid service and the other method of import is an existing feature in BIAB.
The copy special has an option to include lyrics and the file / clipboard output has a section [Lyrics] with separators for lyric bars and an [End Lyrics] indicator which suggests that it is formatted for being read by BIAB.
BIAB does not however specifically say that this method can be used for importing lyrics and the Paste Special just seems to paste the chords which makes the [Lyrics] section redundant. It feels like an unfinished feature sadly.
It's a shame that this does not work or has not been completed, as other methods of AI generation could be utilised and then formatted either by the user or by AI to be used by an existing feature, rather than the propriety LyricLab format which also appears to be text based also according to the video.

I'd been under the impression that BIAB would import the chords-plus-lyrics text as shown in a couple of the attachments, but reading through some again I now think perhaps not.

I've played around with this today and there is definitely a problem. I have reported the issue to the development team and drawn their attention to this thread.
