I have been using RB a lot lately, and I'm noticing a recurring problem with the MIDI event list.

For whatever reason, all the events get copied and re-added to the event list multiple times. This makes it hard for me to edit parameters because I might not notice there are 5 copies of the same event, so any edit I make in the top copy gets overwritten by a subsequent copy. True, I can defeat the symptom by watching for extra copies (which I do)... but it shouldn't be happening.

Furthermore, it happens randomly. Some files never experience the problem while other files experience it multiple times in a session.
If anybody else makes use of the MIDI event editor and is seeing the same thing, please verify.

If Jeff ever has a free moment to look into it that would be great. Til then I'll keep watching for random extra events.

Just tried and not able to get that to occur. Any chance the Track for the Event List is to "Multi" and the extra events are on a different track?

Pat, I took a look at this and cannot duplicate. Jeff Y's response below is one that I have seen many times as I use the "multi" event listing to look for just the type of issue you are describing. Once I find the issue using the "multi" I can pin point the track, channel and time that the offending event occurs and then go to that track and time to fix it.

I don't think so, but I'll check. I store mostly patch changes and continuous controller info, rarely notes. In order to get the data sent to the right device, each set of events is labeled for a specific channel. (I'm controlling multiple devices so having it set to multi would not work for me)

I create my tracks on one computer then move them to another one for performance. I wonder if saving the file on different computers could trigger such a phenomenon...?

As I said, it's random... and I haven't been able to pin down a common denominator between the times it happens and the times it doesn't. So I'm not surprised the problem isn't easily reproduced.

It's not a big deal. It has been happening here for years, and I know now to look for it when I edit a CC parameter and the results aren't what I specified. I mention it mostly for quality control, since it *IS* happening (just often enough to keep this old man confused)
