Surely there should be some way around this?

Since you've already updated your USB drive with the 2010.5 files, I would run the installer (even though it's just the 2010 installer) to make sure the fonts, DX effects, and possibly the ForteWT SoftSynth gets installed. Then, you should be able to just copy the USB-Hard Drive BB folder to wherever you want it on your C: drive. You can leave the RealTracks and RealDrums on the USB (if you use that for the RealTracks/Drums source), but make sure the BB folder on the C: drive has a Drums and RealTracks folder present (of course, if you want them on your C: drive, just copy the whole shebang). There are a few files in the Drums and RealTracks folder (I think Matt Finley knows exactly which these are) that should be copied over as well, but not all the sub-folders unless (again) you plan to run everything off your C: drive.

BIAB doesn't have to be installed, per se. Just enough to get fonts, effects and softsynth installed. After that, you can copy the files and it will work. Of course, once you launch BIAB, you'll have to tell it where your RealTracks and Drums are.

I hope that made some sense.
