Hi Ray, I think your vocal is sitting right where it should in the mix, wouldn't call it upfront. Bass sounds great, and I like the lick you are playing on the guitar, nice hook. Organ sounds awesome!! I'm missing the obvious reference you mention and you have me curious, late 60's is when I first started really getting into music. Sounds great so far (listened to mix3) looking forward to seeing where you take it. Thanks Dave, 67 when Emily was skulking along Arnold Layne carrying a tallboy with missing drawers.

Hi, Ray. It's a fairly obvious ode to an extinguished luminary of the late 60s. Fairly obvious to you. The obvious guess is Syd Barrett, but what do I know? The vocal isn't up front, but as Marty says, it's sitting properly in the mix. I'd prefer it up front, but I don't really have a problem with making out the lyrics. It probably helped that I'd read them first. After the fifth listen, it finally sinks into my brain that I don't understand this style. I don't have the familiarity with the songs of that period, so I'm listening to the song all wrong, expecting it to sound like something else. Anyway, nice work! You deduced well DC, Thanks for your kind words. Expectations are dangerous which is why I, usually, don't try to describe a song specifically. Listen wrongly? Nah, I was lucky though, at Teachers' College I did a semester of musical appreciation. The lecturer taught me three indelible lessons: 1. Listen with ears 1st. 2. Program music often offers a narrative because it's the composer lacks confidence in their music & 3. Analysis comes after immersion.

ray, I'm starting to get used to your songs. I think this song's chord progression and modulation are especially great. It's psychedelic, but it's quite pop and I can feel your originality strongly. The vocals, guitar, and organ are very nice. Enjoyed my listen a lot. Best regards. Shigeki Adachi Thanks Shigeki , I know my stuff is often an acquired taste...

Ray, Neat tune. I like the opening! Effective hook. Bass A+ & Drums are stars of the show, but vocals could be little louder. Just my 3 cents. In any case, definitely not a passthrough song. Has good character. Thank you for sharing.
Misha.

Hi Ray. I think I prefer the first mix as I can hear the vocal better. Good one.

Ray, the bass really carries this. Nice playing. The organ does sound great and the ending is very cool. You did a good job on the vocal also. A lot of originality here. Good one, Tom

I love the instrumentation in this, though I'd liked to have heard an organ solo maybe 2/3 way through as it sounds so good at the end. The song reminded me of a couple of things from the 60s, one I can't put my finger on, but it's the vocal style; the other somehow the verse from Love's "The Daily Planet": "I can see you / With no (hands) (face) / Eyes I need you / You're my (heart) (face) / Look we're going round and round"!
Some favourite Waoist Adages: #1: Play on the Way. #13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you. #58: Bring consciousness to it. #63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made. #92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Ray this is your best to date. The vocals are spot on and set perfectly in the mix. The groove was very contagious, loved it. Great organ ending. To nitpick I think the drums need to be a little more aggressive and/or brought up in the mix. But that is just my opinion and didn't detract from the song to much.
