Happy New Year - song by cheryl anne

Hello Band in the Box friends,

Sorry its been some time since I last posted or visited the forum. I had another stroke this year and then had brain surgery. Its been a little slow going but starting to heal and wanting to pick up with my music again using Band in the Box, I feel good about writing again. My first song of the year, Happy New Year was completely made using Band in Box, no other Daw programs.

I paid and downloaded new 2024 Band in Box and wanted to write new song for new year for friends.

But then I remembered watching BBB videos and I really wanted to test out new chord builder. Who doesn’t want to learn how to better their songs using cool chords right?
So I got playing with chord area using the progression builder and had some fun. I kept playing the chords over, and then prayed for new song and this is what came out.
Sorta bummed I was not feeling my best and had sore throat, but its all about the love of the song and fun in creating. So I hope it blesses others despite my voice. Happy New Year you all !!

Hi Cheryl Anne.

A bright and lively "Happy New Year" to you too!
smile

I love what you've done.
The groove is great and it suits your words and melody very well.
I haven't played around with the new chord builder yet.
It's worked really well for you! You've inspired me.

Thank you for sharing your song and video.

All the very best for 2024,
--Noel

Hi Cheryl Anne.

Good to see you back on the forum.

Nice song - heartfelt lyrics. Sorry to hear about your health issues.

If you don't mind me making a suggestion - there's a lot of "room" ambience in your vocal. It probably comes from your microphone capturing the sound of your voice as well as the sound of your voice bouncing off the walls. It's not terrible, but it makes is hard to blend the vocal with the backing track.

It's best to record in an acoustically dead space, but that rarely aligns with where we put our computer. wink

There are plenty of expensive ways to deaden a room for better recordings. The cheapest (and the one that'll make you feel the most silly) is to record with yourself and your microphone covered with a blanket. laugh

I'm not saying that it's a big problem, just that it's probably the next thing you can do to help improve your recordings... After you get over your cold!

Happy New Year!

HI Cheryl Anne ...\
Yes, it's been quite a while. Glad to hear things are on the mend and you're doing better. If this song is a reliable indicator - you're doing MUCH better!

Nice song. You have some really nice backing tracks, and you're sounding great! Glad the music is still there for you - and for us to hear. I enjoyed my listen immensely. And Happy New Year to you. Keep getting better!

Alan

Cheryl Anne, I'm glad that you are back and that you are on the mend.

Your lyrics are so true. Time does rapidly pass doesn't it.
I haven't used the chord builder but I think I'm gonna have to look into it.
Great use of BiaB. It is a wonderful program isn't it.

Ah, yes, Cheryl Anne, it's all about creating, and it seems like you had to recreate yourself along the way. So well done. So well done. An uplifting story and an encouraging song. So glad you are back and creating again.

Hi Mario,
Happy New Year to you.
Yes Band in the Box is SO great!. So many new things and the chord builder is just one of many things to try out.
If we live to be 100 we can't use all the things/tricks that they have included. Love it !!
I listened to Shadow Road today, you have been working hard.
I liked the banjo sound you included. really added to it.
Keep up the good work.
Happy Valentines Day to you and your family.
